I hate to say it, but Firefox in Puppies 526, 527, and even 511 failed on my AMD cpu.
Sadly I went to the Tiny Core Linux site ( traitor! ) and downloaded it.
Easy to get it to boot, it`s rather spartan in appearance and function.
Even though I muffed up installing Firefox5 and Flash10 it works well.
Firefox is very stable and smooth video on my old AMD 2.4mhz.
An interesting Linux distro., different and innovative. Easy GUI setup.

Yeah, this may be the thread to start with if you're looking to get video to play along nice with Xorg. Tiny I believe runs Xvesa by default.

links to the videos/? perhaps you need a plugin or configuration?sunburnt wrote:I hate to say it, but Firefox in Puppies 526, 527, and even 511 failed on my AMD cpu.

Within my copy of Luci-528 [updated the lupusave->(renamed to lucisave), from Lupu-526, that had been updated from Lupu-525]...
Firefox-3.6.18 with libflashplayer-10.3.181.22 installed...
When playing Youtube videos...
Only shows video with NO SOUND.
Tried uninstalling the libflashplayer-10.3.181.22->[oops, should I have uninstalled flashplayer?] and installing flashplayer-10.3.181.34
I chose to not save the session afterwards, but I notice that flashplayer-10.3.181.34 is still installed [the only flashplayer installed], and so is libflashplayer-10.3.181.22
And there is still no sound.

Interesting that you could install on a ZX-80?sunburnt wrote:on my old AMD 2.4mhz.
Wasn't that the speed if it?

This is kinda misleading in why its posted
Hi @aarf
You may want to share where he can find luci 529. Just a thought. i have been running an AMD X2 for several years. Very fast PC even though others are faster.
My Question to the OP, @sunburnt.
Why on earth are you running 32bit OS for a production PC using a 64bit processor? Does this somehow use some logic that we are missing here? Please share why you are doing this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi semme; Thanks for the link, but it`s not a setup problem.
.................. Puppy starts with Xvesa also, most distros. do.
Hi gcmartin; It`s an AMD Sempron, so it`s not fully a 64 bit cpu, just some of it.
And I don`t think this has anything to do with Puppy`s video problem.
Lobster explained......... It`s a bug with some AMD cpus involving Firefox / Flash.
It probably won`t be fixed with a patch, but hopefully the next Puppy resolves it.
### Observation: Everyone stumbles at times, but problems can`t persist.
....................................... Other wise credibility and forward momentum are lost.

Yep... It seems to be a rather selective bug is what Lobster indicated.
I like Tiny Core, very different setup so it`s interesting.
It`s very close to a OS setup I`ve talked about here for years now. No union.
Puppy`s been my main OS for about 6 to 7 years now, I don`t change that easy...
I`ll be looking forward to the next full release of Puppy, 528 I think?

Three-Headed Dog (Luci-529) is another Lucid derivative with a newer kernel (2.6.37.6).8-bit wrote:aarf,
It was my understanding that Luci 528 was renamed 2headeddog and that there was no test release of a Luci529.
