E17 windowmanager all in one pet, wmswitcher, usual modules
I haven't looked at the .pet But if you have /ect/enlightenment ,see if the sysactions.conf file is in there. If it is, open it as text and edit lines 46 and 47 to use your shutdown/reboot scripts. The scripts still need to be fixed like Iguleder said . This will make the e exit menu shutdown /reboot options work.
This is a older fix , I don't use the e exit menu .

Regarding getting Pupshutdown and similar tools to work, there is a problem. E is started with "enligtenment-start" and wmreboot, wmexit, restartwm, etc' try to kill a process named like that to exit E17. However, "enlightenment-start" launches "enlightenment", which is the window manager itself. It's similar to the problem with Xfce, which starts the panels and they don't die so you can't quit Xfce.
The solution is simple: add "killall enlightenment" to wmreboot, restartwm, wmexit and wmpoweroff.
Code: Select all
echo 'enlightenment' > /etc/windowmanager

Thanks for all the information and suggestions. The first page enlightenment pet has been repackaged. It went through considerable reorganization. I tested and checked shutdown and reboot options.
Sysconf module has been disabled. Ppoweroff added to the Ibar, Mixer module removed and Alsamixer added to the Ibar, Forecasts gadget added to the Ibar, scripts checked and fixed etc....
I downloaded Lucid 529 aka three headed dog. Couldnt get wlan working whatever I tried. First time in Puppy history since kernel 2.6.33.2 puppies.
Eth0 connection worked, I uploaded and downloaded the e17 pet and checked that it works.
Now the pet has Xmessage which informs that after installing the pet, reboot is needed.
The pet changes the needed scripts.
It might cause that first shutdown needs to be done using console:
wmreboot

E17 themes pack which I created after hunting themes from the net. You get 6 extra themes with installing this pet.

Cool thing you did with E17 . You make me happy .
Using it happily on Puppy Precise 5.5.9 . (tried on Dpup Wheezy but does not work )
This what i really was (waiting ) looking for.
(just need some fine-tuning) Up till now only found mixer module does not find my alsamixer .
Want to thank you for all you have done for us all .(and also all the other developers too ).
Thanks !

Hi.
@backi
Thanks for bringing up this old thread again.
@pemasu.
Installed the e17 package into my Osiris Studio, which is a LazY Puppy Derivative (Lucid based) about 300 MB (now 310 MB). It took some time to refine my LazY Remaster Script to keep all the files installed on a remaster, but now it works!
I think I will give it some more MB and use the bodhi theme for main desktop environment! This looks really nice
Thanks for all the work!

Hi.backi wrote:]RHS is there chance to download and have a look at your mentioned above OSIRIS iso ?
Sorry to say, but I can't upload this ISO for some reasons like too many menu entries (.desktop files) linked to my external and private files, also to some external applications that are not available to download at my repository at smokey01.com/RSH/. So, there won't be really much fun for other users.
Beside this, hey, it's just a LazY Puppy!
So, nothing really new to offer within the Osirirs Studio.
But after building in the e17 Window Manager into Osiris Studio, I do know already what to do. So, I will try to re-package the e17 Window Manager for the use in LazY Puppy (e17 can not be installed and used out of the box - it will crahs the LazY Puppy Shutdown-GUI functions on installing it) and upload it to my LazY Puppy repository. The LazY Puppy users will be informed by LazY Puppy's Easy Online Updater when uploaded.
It might need some time to start on this, because I'm already busy...

FYI: The Tizen fork of Linux for embedded devices, watch-phones, and soon - smartphones just announced an update of their EFL, Elementary, Enlightenment app
http://www.tizenexperts.com/2014/04/ef ... 7-release/
I am looking forward to using Tizen, especially on a smartphone, so it would be nice to get familiar with the windowmanager ...
I'll give this a try on Raring on a Samsung Netbook ...
Thanks!

First of all let me thank you this is a fantastic job I'm on Precise Puppy 5.7.1 which is the Puppy version that works flawlessly for me so far and your package works great now my puppy looks ten times more modern now. I love it. I just had 2 tiny problems. When I installed the package I needed to reboot but it wouldn't reboot so I had to turn off the pc using the button. The second problem is that in the main menu = Internet, my seamonkey icon doesn't appear. I couldn't go on the internet. I had to manually insert the seamonkey icon in the Ibar. That's what I intended to do anyway. Other than that the rest seems to be working fine and it really looks great
Unfortunately the e17 PET causes a black screen in my Precise 5.7.1 install on a Samsung NB30 Netbook.
Probably a video driver conflict or something ...

Open the package manager, search for the libs and download them.
If they are installing immediately, you can use gnewpet application (somewhere in forum utilities) to re-create installed packages, so you can extract them again and include the libs into the e17 WM sfs file.
