Custom-Puppy.iso Based on Precise Version 5.5

#1 Post by Packetteer »

Hi All
I have remastered Precise Puppy version 5.5
The iso file is down loadable from the following URL.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/901 ... -puppy.iso

This remaster is big by Puppy standards. It is 424.56 meg.
The iso contains the following.
dvx.sfs
D-Rats
Full python programing.

The reason why I made this iso file is for Ham operators who want to
set up a Server HSMM node.
D-Rats has a chat server built in. It has a FTP server built in,
Precise has Hiawatha Web server built in.

The iso makes it plug and play for these Ham operators.
So Ham operators who know nothing about Linux and Puppy would
not have to load the dvx file, install the packages so that D-Rats will work.

Thank you for your time in reading this E-Mail.
Best Regards
John

Hello John;
I wonder if your custom puppy can be used to set up an RTL2832 SDR server. I tried websdr+puppy in the past but failed, so I reverted to the "other" operating system that everybody here hates hihi
Tnx/73

Hi Ali
Custom-Puppy has all the tools to compile software. So it should be
possible to down load the source and compile.

If the source is written in Python then you would not need to compile it.
You could simply run the source from the console.

That is how Custom-Puppy runs D-Rats.
You would open the console and enter the following commands.

Code: Select all

cd d-rats
./d-rats
Thank you Ali for your interest in Custom-Puppy
Best Regards
John

Hello again John;
My goal is to run a puppy-based SDR server but it seems I have to do a lot of reading before I reach that stage!
Tnx for your custom iso / 73.
Ali
