Subject description: How to make a launcher on the desktop for televideo (italian teletext).

In Ubuntu i create a launcher clicking the right button of the touchpad, inserting icon, description and browsing in the decompressed directory of the program for the right command; thats all; can anybody tell me the exact way to do the same in Puppy Lucid 5.2.8? Thanks for the attention.

I suppose launcher is the ubuntu terminology.

The best to do is to drag the program executable to the desktop.

Hello mikronimo
This may not be the right place but I am very interested in your televideo (Italian teletext)

I have done what Beem says for a number of programs and its fine for me.

You suppose well; it's an icon linked with the running command selected from the decompressed directory; i've tried to drag the command on the desktop (the exact one i used in Ubuntu or PCLinuxOS): don't work at all. It says that the directory doesn't exist. I'm new with Puppy Lucid, have patience.

You have to locate the program in puppy, not ubuntu or pclos.
Well I suppose you installed the program.
Then drag it to the desktop.

Maybe it's not clear what i've done, so... anticipating i'm in Puppy 5.28, fully installed in the hard disk, with 2 partition (sda1 -> root, in which it's installed Puppy; sda2 -> data):

1.downloaded the program;
2.decompressed the program in /root/home;
3.opened the directory on the desktop;
4.marked the executable to be executable;
5.dragged the executable on the desktop;
6.clicked on the new icon (launcher);
7.don't work at all.

I guess i missed something to do, but i don't know what is it; surely it's not drag the executable on the desktop; if you have more suggestions, well, otherwise , thanks anyway for your patience.

The procedure looks ok but we don't see what you see.
You can also show us what you see by posting screenshots.

Alternatively open a terminal/console and go to the directory where the executable is.
Type the name of the executable to execute and see if there are error messages.
Copy/paste here.

Related to this thread, I am using Openbox in Puppy 5.2.8 and was wondering if it is possible to create a launcher that will bring me to a specific web site with one click.
