How to use Epson NX420 wireless printer in Lucid 528?

#1 Post by 2-e »

I am trying to set up my Epson NX420 wireless printer in Lucid 5.28. I don't know if I'm using CUPS correctly. It doesn't list this printer and I don't know how to get the PPD file. Any help would be much appreciated.

First of all, a PPD file is just a text configuration file - you need a whole driver package to install your NX420. Get it here.

Network printing can be tricky, so your first step should be to connect the printer by USB and confirm that the above driver works.

CUPS 1.4 in Lucid is sometimes slow to detect network printers. You may need to try "Find New Printers" several times.

Do you have the firewall turned on? It can interfere with printer detection.

Can you ping the printer by its IP address? This will confirm that the wifi installation is correct.
