Well...what a day I had yesterday...good thing I was off work. A friend requested I install Puppy Lucid on her ME box today and I fouund I neded the file transfer part of Windows-XP, so I wiped my drice "restored" the ogiginal software from eMachines. and did a dual boot to Windows-XP/Lucid Puppy 5.2.8.
I formatted the drive and did a "clean" reload of Factory software. Win-XP came in SP2 so of course I had to upgrade to SP3. Took about an hour to reload the recover package then 10 hours to let Windows-XP do all the o/s "upgrades'...Dern! Now I remember why i hosed XP...after i gor done with XP about 11:00PM i ran a disk-check for errors, then defrag. After thet i used the Puppy CD to shrink my Windows Partition and created a partition for Puppy and a 1024Kb Linux-Swap file. Next I loaded Puppy back on the new partition. Took about 45 minutes to do all that with Puppy. I am using Puppy right now. Grub4Dos did it's job and i rebooted with no problems..
Lucid Puppy is so refreshing after "Xp"...it just works without a lot of "huffing and puffing"...Thanks Barry and the guys and gals! I am now a "penguin" and not a "pane"...
