Okay...I have changed between jwm - openbox - e17 - icewm with wmswitcher and from console state by xwin "the name of wm" and I have to admit I dont understand logic of moving gtkrc-2.0 from .bak to .gtkrc-2.0 or vice versa. Of course there is reason...I just cant find it.
Solution....I removed this kind line from every wm manager choice in /usr/sbin/wmswitcher:
cp -f $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0.bak $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0 or vice versa
Now the the gtk theme configured by Chtheme menu app sticks between wm changing.
If not....just use Chtheme app again.

If you want to decorate your desktop with National Geographic pics....
Here is 2 scripts to download 2010 and 2011 pics.
Remove phony .gz and give executable permission to the script.
Place the script to the folder where you want to download pics. And execute the script in console.

it DOES work! Subject description: gtk themes |
|
Pemasu I was wrong> in this latest version, the gtk theme is holding between boots and open/closing of Firefox. Not sure why it appeared not to be so last night, perhaps I had just changed it and didn't close browser to test. Not so good to test software when exhasted, lol. Sorry to put you through more script-checking, but I think it is working properly now. And, radky yes I am using e17, I know from macpup how to change the wallpaper and other looks, thanks for the reply!
Exprimo is looking up!

turbo. Great, that it works for you.
Checking sometimes throughly what you have under hood is reasonable. I have now tested several wm`s with different ways to boot different wm and cleaning up the wmswitcher was reasonable. There was bad behaving situations which should be now eliminated.

Gtk-youtube-viewer which has youtube search and it plays youtube videos through mplayer in separate mplayer screen.
Standalone youtube video player, no need for flash or browser.
Original murga-forum announcement with source url: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=612749#612749
I have hunted needed perl modules for dpup exprimo and used cpan first time.
I hope this version works.

The reason for moving gtkrc was to fix a conflict with xfce4 in Lupu. The moving was conditional if the backup existed, if not then nothing happens. Seems like something got lost in the translation.

01micko. Thanks that you confirmed what I believed. Only wm not using gtkrc-2.0 could have been xfce4. I suspected that.
I dont have any plan to include xfce4 support for dpup exprimo. There is already 2 wm included and openbox-fbpanel and icewm possibility in exprimo repo ready for dpup exprimo...packaged to use them oob. I hope that is enough.
Icewm though need for tray that 01micko created hack in delayedrun which I removed accidentally. It will be back in next build.
And I can create a pet for fixed delayedrun for those who need it asap.

firstrun-2.0 and delayedrun |
|
firstrun-2.0 is out.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=58312
As for the delayedrun, i propose the one in the /usr/share/doc/nls/firstrun/delayedrun-example.
The delayedrun in the 5.X.3.1.10.1 is nice, but still has one problem. It is caused by the fact the firstrun as the startup script runs parallel with the delayedrun. So sometimes dialogs conflict. Solution it to run the quicksetup before.

pink warning from delayedrun overlaps the firstrun dialogs. |

Hmm....Yes...that error comes from /root/Startup/temp2tray when working modules are not found. 01micko should post update at some time so that the nonworking situation does not produce warning.
Good remind. I will check the delayedrun example.
How about merging firstrun and delayedrun. I dont use the one from woof and so the merged one wouldnt be overwritten. That way there wouldnt be any overlapping situations.

Dpup Exprimo 5.X.3.1.10.1 SMP multicore optimized version Subject description: Initial testing |
|
pemasu:
Fresh manual frugal install to fat32 USB2 flash stick. Syslinux 4.04 boot ext4 save-file.
Initial boot to desktop with working sound , wired Ethernet & vesa driver @ 1280 x 1024.
(No hard discs in PC)
Manually:
1. Installed Thunderbird & MS fonts for Chromium to use.
2. Disabled frisbee & set static I/P (quicker).
3. Set Chromium cache to tmp & compiled Nvidia driver.
4. Changed wallpaper & added a few custom icons in JWM tray.
Pets Installed:
chromium-18|Browse the Web
faenza_lrx_new|
fontwizard|Configure fonts for LCD
getflash-0.5|GetFlash Install Flashplayer
flashplayer
umplayer-0.9.7_qt-4.8.0-dpup|A great MPlayer front-end
Highlights IMHO:
1. The ability to save as ext4 which is much faster than ext2/ext3. (save interval set to zero)
2. The option not to save when shutting down. (for when I really foul up!)
3. Right click options on green personal storage icon.
4. New PPM. (very slick)
5. Thumbnails of YouTube videos in Umplayer were visible - a first in my experience.
You may wish to include Roxterm & getflash 0.5 which updates to the latest flash. (required by some sites that do not recognise inbuilt custom players.)

Thank You ETP of exclusive report. It seems you have taken most out of the puplet.
getflash has been included and is in fact in crucial usage. The delayedrun script part to suggest the download has been removed and firstrun script launches the getflash when conditions permits.
There is menu entry in Internet for manual downloading and you get version information of installed one.

Thanks Shinobar for your example delayedrun.
I have now exprimozed the firstrun and delayedrun scripts. Now the logical chain should be correct.
In /root/Startup/firstrun script....$GETFLASH and $FLASHINMENU didnt work in dpup, I dont know why...the flash downloading was not offered, so I just made straight call to the getflash and I did remove conditional checking all together.
Yeah...I ruined the generic usage...but this is for dpup exprimo only.
For inspecting....my sequence of things...here is the planned firstrun and delayedrun as tarball.
By the way firstrun-2.0 is as folder...not as pet in Shinobar`s repo...as 01micko posted earlier.
