Gimp Bug report

#61 Post by don570 »

I tried a version of Gimp 2.7.1 that shinobar made for
Wary and it couldn't save a document. The
application would disappear

Inkscapelite behaved oddly. Small black triangles would form
around the document window, but I could save a document.

Wacom digital tablet worked well with Wary (mtpaint and gimp)

Pupcamera worked with a Hewlett-Packard HP m425 camera
so other HP cameras should work as well

mtpaint patch

#62 Post by don570 »

Dimitri (maintainer of mtpaint ) quickly made a patch
to solve the problem of saving layers that I mentioned a
couple of days ago in regards to mtpaint.

I applied the patch and it worked.
I put my work in a folder so people
can try it. There's a pet inside the folder
that should work properly.

Wary 5.2 final is out!

See announcement and release notes:
http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=02543

I am very keen to add more features to Woof, but it puts us in a never-ending test-cycle. So, I froze things for a short time, and have pushed out Wary 5.2 final.

The Woof used to build Wary 5.2 has also been uploaded:

Hi

Wallpaper - yes please - luvly

Nice Puppy too - from a n00b viewpoint, runs extremely well on my
Acer TM243LC, 256mb ram. 2.5Ghz Ceieron Proc. 800mb swap partition.
manual frugal install to ext3 sda6.

Installed dillo and thunar - great.
Usually run Opera or QTweb browser - both v.good.

Usually install JRB's excellent SFS_linker-2.2 for on the fly SFS loading,
and use SFS packages for any other program requirements.

Very rarely use a save_file - just run (hot) live from ram.

HTH - and many thanks to BK and all who do so much for us.

Very best regards - Ray

There is limit to the number of sfs files that can be in /mnt/home
because after rebooting to create the save file the usual screen
asking which sfs files to load shows an error message about too many
items (something like that anyways) and you can't load any sfs files.

This happened on the first pc I installed wary 5.2 on and it has more
than a dozen sfs files from various versions of puppy in /mnt/home so
I installed SFS-Load on-the-fly on that pc.

Permanent SFS installation without the need for the SFS file

#70 Post by gcmartin »

This is a bug thread and I am aware of this. If this need be move to another thread, do it.

See several references to SFSs processing in this thread. Sometimes SFSs are available but not PETs for a given function.

But, I just wanted to ask:
  • Is there a way to convert SFSs to PETs and have the PPM make them available to the system user?
  • Or, can SFSs functionality be incorporated into a Live RAM system like PETs are, so that when the system is saved, the total functionality is saved without the need for the SFS file itself anymore?
Thanks in advance

@gcmartin

OK here goes.

It's certainly possible to convert an sfs to a pet. This pet can simply then get installed into any Puppy system by merely clicking on it. Inclusion as a directly installable package from an on-line Puppy repo into the PPM is another matter entirely, and would be solely at the discretion of the relevant developer.

Haven't tried this for a while, but it ought to be possible to make use of Puppy's multi-session capabilities, whereby a complete snapshot of a Puppy session can be created. The resultant snapshot should contain any merged folders and files from any included sfs that are currently loaded when the snapshot is taken. Have forgotten though, whether or not the sfs squash-file needs to be explicitly burned to the DVD that contains the session snapshot or whether the files/folders that actually belong to the sfs would automatically get picked up when the multisession DVD gets burned during the OS shutdown sequence.

pupX set properties of X

Wary 5.2 frugal

pupX set properties of X > Screensaver

Usually I disable the screen saver,
but just now enabled it for a short delay,
and 'blank the screen'.

It did not happen !
I tried it with no apps running.

Is it broken?

As don570 said - a row of triangle like shapes appear over the ruler as the mouse is moved (following the pointer), They go if the window is resized or loses focus, but return once the mouse moves again. Some artifacts down the left hand side too, though less noticeable. Definitely following the mouse movements though.

Wary Puppy 5.2 final (October 14)

It seems to have a limit of18-20 current version SFS in /mnt/home then you get the error.
