I came across this simple python script for a on screen ruler, should be handy for aligning things.
works quite well, pressing H or V on the keyboard will turn the ruler horizontal or vertical, can also be re-sized with the mouse.
You need python installed to use this app.
edit: Reduced the width of the ruler, image shows two rulers the top one is undecorated, to close pyruler press "q" to quit.

Hello Geoffrey,
very nice tool. I have downloaded and i will use it. What do you think about to add a right-click option, just to load and save positions and sizes of the rulers?

Edit: and please tell me, how can i make attached pictures shown like yours and not attached to download. Please...

Hi RSH,
How to insert the image, the image I have is on my dropbox online storage and it is just a link added like this " " without the quotes.
Though don't make the picture to large as not everyone will be able to view it, the one in my post is only 700px × 438px
As for the Python script ruler it is just something I found online, I have tried changing a few things with it but what ya see is what ya get.
I just thought it would be handy to align things not really meant to be permanent.
if you want to add a icon on the task-bar for it so it's accessible at all times then edit fbpanel configuration to look like this.
I'm assuming you are using openbox with fbpanel.

You can keep it. Size is not everything.

Hmm -- this coming from someone whose username is phat!
Just yanking your chain...i use LibreOffice and T-bird, so i agree with you there; I just don't happen to need a screenruler except on occasion, so this one fills the bill for me.
