I installed that file and it says the package was successfully installed under Utility, but when i go to usr/share/applications - i dont see any Teamviewer application, so dont think it has actually installed Teamviewer.

hi tannaroo,
it hasn't got a menu entry for some reason.... look in /usr/bin , there should be a 'teamviewer7' . use that to start it. you can drag and drop it onto the desktop

Hi.
TeamViewer8 problem in Wary5.5. Packages deb, rpm, tar.gz not works.
The TeamViewer daemon is not running!
Please start the daemon (needs root permissions) before running TeamViewer:
teamviewer --daemon start
If you did not disable the daemon, please contact Teamviewer support. Run the following command to obtain all log files:
teamviewer --ziplog
I was install anti-root next modify /usr/bin/teamviewerantiroot sequence 'teamviewer6' to 'teamviewer' and still the same problem. Permission denied. How to create anti-root crack for Wary for any TeamViewer 8 (next 9,10,...)?

Pardon me for butting in, but I just read through this whole thread and could not find a description of what Teamviewer is, what it does, what it could be used for, why anyone would want to use it.

The Teamviewer website gives the fullest explanation. But briefly, Teamviewer allows you to easily control a remote computer (linux, windows, or apple) or transfer files to/from a remote computer (full access to the remote filesystem). And the remote computer doesn't have to be on your LAN. Other features as well, like audio or video chat, which make it great for helping someone fix their problems.
The advantage over some other remote desktop software is its ease of use and features. The remote user can simply run a program (no install necessary) for one-time use. Run, give you the password, and you're in. Or it can be installed and run in the background so a remote computer can be accessed at any time. Lots of settings for the level of control allowed (including LAN only).
The newest version (9) is available as pet or sfs here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/puppystuff/files/Internet/TeamViewer/
