GoatTracker-2.71: emulates Commodore64 SID audio chip

#1 Post by SFR »

I believe Commodore64 and its sound chip was/is important part of life of many of us.
Such musicians as Tim Follin, Jeroen Tel, Drax, Hein Holt and many others, they caused my love to this gorgeous little piece of silicon called SID :).
And I'm glad that finally I can also create/listen to SID music within my Puppy Linux.

I simply unpacked .deb package found here and created a .pet.
Everything seems to work fine with my Lupu-528.

FYI: example songs are included in usr/share/doc/goattracker/examples

GoatTracker 2.71 authors (taken from readme.txt.gz):
Editor by Lasse Öörni (loorni@gmail.com)
HardSID 4U support by Téli Sándor.
Uses reSID engine by Dag Lem.
Uses reSID distortion / nonlinearity by Antti Lankila.
Uses 6510 crossassembler from Exomizer2 beta by Magnus Lind.
Uses the SDL library.
GoatTracker icon by Antonio Vera.
Command quick reference by Simon Bennett.
Patches by Stefan A. Haubenthal, Valerio Cannone and Raine M. Ekman.
Thanks! :)

Hi 666philb

Thanx for the link.
I didn't know that Rob Hubbard was composing on other platforms too.
Spectrum 'AYs' are just charming :)

Hi Lobster.

I just downloaded it and launched live session in VBox.
Seems to work fine! :)
I wasn't able to run C64 emulator (UAE started, by the way) , but I'll install it soon, increase RAM and we'll see...

Thanx & Greetings!
