Server_mount_drives .pet

#1 Post by jrb »

Recently this was posted on the PupServer-435 thread.
shivish wrote:I guess I am talking about Samba-TNG in Lupu528 and should post in that section. The reason I posted it here is that, I wanted to recreate the 435 experience. Samba-TNG started samba server but the drives didn't auto mount, nor would startmount application do it (it keeps saying save the session, for it to work, but I have saved the session, and rebooted multiple times). So I guess if you can tell me how you managed the automount of all drives on each boot. I'll be all set.

Thanks a bunch

To answer this request I have extracted the files from Pupserver-435 and packaged them in server_mount_drives-1.01.pet. I updated my modified /usr/local/bin/drive_all to the latest from Wary-5.2 so its right up to date.

Server_mount_drives will mount all your drives, including usb, at startup and create links to / so they are visible on your client machines as soon as you log in to your Puppy server.

It is designed to be used in conjunction with a samba server such as rcrsn51's excellent Samba-TNG (that's the one I use :D ).

Unlike PupServer-435 you will need to do a bit of setup: Install a samba server, install server_mount_drives-1.01.pet, but once set up it should give you "the 435 experience."

Enjoy :D , J

It is neither. Once installed it works at bootup, mounting all drives and placing links to them in the / folder. That's it, no menus, no options, no commands, one task and one task only. 8) KISS

Cheers, J
