8) Power of Pup

#1 Post by Lobster »

I am a seasoned and experienced Windows user (like many people here) and I can remember when MS were a ruthlessly nice company (it pays to be nice).

Some Linux distros seem to assume we have been using Unix and then Linux.
Well I haven't. Neither have I learnt how to program in C. I am an end user.

Puppy works for me and I use it most of the time.

Puppy power is about sharing resources and skills. Cross fertilisation and collaboration with other Linuxes. Promoting Puppy on websites, blogs - in our email signatures. Giving out Puppy CD's. Sending a private message to new Puppys welcoming them.

Share the fun - it's more fun. 8)

I have 50 of the 50MB CD-Rs on order... What, oh what, shall I do with them? Hmmm...

John's Opera version is going on as many as I can hand out... :D

I already have a convert at work... He loves the 1.0.2RC disk that I gave him.

Free the Pup

Hey - someone turned off Babbs avatar . . .
(bet it was 'im)

Giving Pups away - it's well . . . well it's radical - "I liked the OS so much I gave it away".

Must be a Linux thing. Tux Power.
Are we having fun yet?
:)

Maybe we should have version numbers and names?

For Example a Puppy you give away (or perhaps a special Valentine Pup)
could be "Puppy Love"

Then we have "PizzaPup" - which I think should come with a "Do not Microwave" option

Then We have "John Murgas Opera Puplet" - includes Perl

Version 1.0.2 might be known as "Puppy NewNuts" as it contains the 2.6 kernel

So what will 1.0.3 be known as?

Giving away Puppys - good plan - JaDy gives Puppys away at Hollywood parties. I would too but nobody invites me, except as a menu item . . .

Me thinks Lobster has me confused with another. Or is Lobster just being a playful crustacean? 8) I do not attend Hollywood parties. I do not give puppies away at Hollywood parties. I do not eat green eggs and spam. I do give away Puppies -- Puppy Linux, that is.

Sorry Rev:
I do have you confused with someone who does attend Hollywood parties and has secret powers - maybe someone can remind me who I am confused over? Reveal yourself mysterious Puppy advocate - it is the person who signs their posts "Hail Puppy"

Sorry. I hope I have not got anyone in trouble with the Church. The only heretic around here is me. Many apologies to all good Pups.

:)

It is not Dr Seuss or the Cat in the Hat incidentally.

New Convert

#6 Post by Yamamoto »

Right now I'm running Puppy on a 7.5gig drive on a modified Gateway 466(originally a celeron, upgraded to PIII/733 w/optical drive upgrades) with 96mb RAM. And it runs like a champ. I'm going to upgrade the RAM as much as this machine will take, scrounge a monitor/kb and mouse, and this box will find its way to a lady that has no $ for a computer. Puppy is the schizzle, and just the thing for me, I've wanted an OS that would work well on giveaway computers. I would also like to host the ISO on my website(I'll wait for permssion on that).

Puppy is the schizzle,
I love it!

I think that that quote should be put on the main Puppy web page, along with the others....

It does a good job of conveying the situation accurately!
