Hi all
just downloaded another pup that is supposed to boot straight to desktop, what happens?
it sends a resolution outside of my monitors range resulting in a blank screen. (same problem that stops me from using debian and mint)
I have to hit alt ctrl backspace to get to a prompt so that I can run xorgwizard set my resolution then restart xwin, then the bloody gui pops up asking if I want to alter settings (which is a right pain), if I want to change something I will change it, I dont need some nanny program wasting resources/time asking me if I want to do whatever.
I am just waiting for xorgwizard being removed on the grounds that with booting directly to desktop, xorgwizard is no longer needed (then I couldnt use any of those pups at all )
now on some pups you are getting a gui on shutdown (even when not making a save file) as well.
is this progress?? I don't think so, (next will we be stopped from running as root because it makes some peoples life easier/prettier/ more secure??? ) I am using modern puppys less and less as a live cd/dvd (particulaly on rescues) because of the time wasted by the setup gui's (Found myself using spup 100 as it has the speed (and no guis) but some of the libs are starting to age a bit)
Is it just me that want's a modern puppy (up to date progs, libs and devx) without all these gui's wasting resources, my valuble time and still trying to tell me what to do?? (as well as asking bloody stupid questions.)
cheers
