kodi-14.1 & 14.0_tahr (xbmc)

#1 Post by kost@s »

We are proud to announce the release of Kodi 14.1, which
comes with a new name, a new logo, and a wide variety of new
features, but underneath the new coat of paint remains the same
software we all love. This is the first small bugfix release in the Helix range. As we have mention in our Kodi 14.0
release announcement, we will be releasing these to squash down
any issues left after the first final release. Below
you will find a list of fixes so far.
Fixes so far

* Fix: incorrect video screensize on Android AML devices
* Fix: potential segfault when silencing audio
* Fix: do not skip streaminfo if format is not know.
* Fix: DXVA flickering on AMD
* Fix: prevent possible over-flow in ALSA
* Fix: possible sorting problems in library
* Fix: possible problem in library navigation
* Fix: don’t scroll text when it’s set to not do it
* Fix: scroll text if it’s too long on spinner controls
* Fix: don’t overlap PVR search labels
* Fix: bug in DLNA client string on iOS
* Fix: updated several PVR add-ons
* Fix: remember played state of video when started from recently added
* Fix: correct vsync on OSX
* Fix: broken keyboard input
* Fix: prevent crash on circular dependencies of add-ons
* Fix: large file support on Android
* Fix: random exiting on Android x86 builds (Nexus Player for example)

A Few Warnings and Notices

This release marks the switch to the new name Kodi. When you install this releases , your library and add-ons will be moved to Kodi, making reverting back to 13.2 fairly difficult. As such, it is recommended that you back up your library as well as your settings before installing Kodi.

If you are using a skin other than the default Confluence, it is possible that you may find the software keyboard blank as a result of the previously mentioned keyboard layout upgrade. If so, you need to either switch to a new skin, or see if your skin has a Helix update. While Kodi automatically checks for addon and skin updates, you can speed up this process by visiting the addons browser from the settings menu and selecting “Check for updates.

Hi.

I am unclear about what your "thing" does. Because at this point, it is only a
"thing", sorry.

..."the software we all love..." being...

I gather from the pictures that this is a Puppy focused on music ?

To add to the confusion, Kodi can be a first name as well.

Please be clearer next time. Please respect my mind: It shouldn't need to do
contortions to understand what your whatever does.

Thanks in advance.

KODI is the "follow-on replacement" of XBMC. Think of it as the installable for XBMC 2015.

My ONLY question is whether the PET provided is only for 32bit PUPs? Or for 64bit PUPs also?

I ask as I think this is destined for @BattleShooter's Vanguard

Thanks in advance

you need (i using restricted drivers graphics card) kodi-14.1.sfs lib6+libstdc6-4.9.2.pet is working slacko and puppex
Questions:
How large is the .SFS and the .PET?
What is the minimum requirement in processor power and memory required to run them? What is the optimum?

@Donnerscotti. Alex, first of all, Welcome to the Forum. I really do think that you might find a more suitable answer by posting on the Kodi website. Kodi is not Puppy Linux but an 'add-on', therefore some of the problems you have experienced may be caused by the specific software.
The other 'problem' is, there's no information to go on. What version of Puppy Linux are you running. You have pasted as 'Slacko' but which one? Please give details. How have you installed it. What sort of computer: desktop, laptop? Give processor speed, memory, hard drive, graphic driver. What make and model wireless keyboard? The more information you post the better everyone can try and help you.
Okay. More questions. Prior to using the Kodi add-on, did font's show up on the original working install? How did you attempt setting up the wireless keyboard? Have you tried using a normal USB or PS2 plug-in keyboard. If so, does it work?
Finally, read here. It might help, perhaps not.

hi fossil, thanks for your fast answer. i tryed slako 5.5 to 5.7
all distros without luck on my old P4 3GHz IBM PC, my Samsung N150 Netbook and my AMD Desktop computer.

the fonds look perfect on all other programs, just kodi has no fonts at all.

the latest puppex runns like a dream on my AMD mashine. even with the wireless keyboard. everything works perfect. but i like to use the old P4 in a nother room. The P4/puppex compo does not work with my logitech k400 wireless keyboard. if i use another keyboard it works, but i whant the wireless one. i try to dig deeper in to it and i hope i find a solution.

regards
alex

All I can suggest is you contact the Kodi maintainers via their website. It is probably something to do with the setup.

Hi kost@s ,
thanks for kodi. With Tahr is all ok, while Slacko missing texts in the menu. I solved by installing glibc.

I have compiled a .pet:

glibc-2.22.90-36.fc24.i686.pet

Seems a new Kodi, Stable V16, was finalized to GIT 2 days ago. (click the Linux Penguin icon)

Any chance for a PET and LIBs? That would match with Puppy users who have smartDevices which would be used as Remote Controls? Nice combined solution for home use.

One step forward.. merci :) error disapeared

Google changed the way youtube is accessed. It is a considered an application and users need to be logged on to access content. This is a little different from the regular login though. Youtube addon uses Google's APIs to connect?

Anyway, just follow the onscreen instructions on the addon

First, open a browser on a PC or mobile phone and go to youtube.com/activate

You will be prompted to login with your Google credentials (no prompt if already logged on)
Then enter the 8 character code displayed on the youtube addon screen

This has to be done twice in a row for successful authentication and linking
