Have been using various versions of Puppy Linux for some time to edit photos and and scan negatives. I have Picasa, Photoscape and Photoshop running under Wine which are the only Windows software I now use. I had no pronblen installing driver for my negative scanner. Anyway here are a screenshot and photos scanned from some old slides:
