Create your own distro?

This is a true story starring one semi-human cructacean and one Puppy

* I backed up my my-documents from mnt/home on to my brand new DVD writer. Which incidently has something called "LightScribe". Does this burn onto/print (expensive!) lightscribe disks (as I suspect)?
* I plug in a new clean HD

Well OK those two steps are not essential but it is my idea of clean room conditions . . .

Next I make a cup of tea (oh OK that was not essential either but it is a great drink)

OK on with the show.

I boot up with Puppy Singer AKA 108r1
I install software with dotpups - now this was time consuming and frankly a mess. Because they are all over the place. The wiki is not
up to date so Marks manager for the dotpups is not up to date . . .
So there is a project for someone - update the wiki pages for the new .pups

What I wanted to install was extra codecs for viewing in XMMS also:

• java
  Inkscape
  NVU
  Gimp
  Audacity
  tuxcards

Inkscape not sure if I have the latest
NVU I think needed a library but I could not find it
Gimp after various attempts to find the latest settled for Barrys version 2 (pupget)

So installing the software was easy - finding it was very time consuming . . .

I then ran AlienX remaster and a lot of error messages came up
BUT it created an ISO image - a 144 meg distro of my very own

Note, the remaster program in puppy2 alpha 11 april snapshot will do this
easily also!

Barry, I'm looking forward to giving it a go. The iso is burning right now. I'm looking forward even more to something equivelent to Unleashed for Puppy2.
