Suggest a database for Puppy?

#1 Post by pooklaroux »

I am trying to move files over from MSOffice, so a program that would let me import an excel file would be helpful.

I need to keep track of a mailing list with many different fields, and I need to be able to sort the list different ways. I like to output data from this list to a word processor, to prepare printed copies for the group.

Suggestions?

I think Puppys Gnumeric crashes when importing Excel.
But you could try to save in another format (for example CSV-export), and import that in Gnumeric.

Or try OpenOffice Calc.
It has good Import of MS-Office, just Macros written in Visual Basic will get lost.

My memory is not perfect, but wasn't the crash on exporting to excel format?

Pook, I haven't been able to try it out yet, but the latest OpenOffice has a new thing called "Base." From what I can find out, it is a way to easily construct GUI front ends for databases of the sort you describe.
