Just a quick Heads Up for those that missed it, the new Midori release now supports drag and drop re-ordering of speed dial buttons

Jemimah, my original request forwarded by pemasu
My original post requested 3G and Wifi signal strength [maybe both/selectable]...I don't know if that is possible, or if a dotpet could be made separate from frisbee?
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=76685
The reason for asking is there are many requests for help from people who are getting poor connections/dropouts or just bad download speeds, which often indicate poor signal strength, so an indicator/meter would be really useful, especially for 3G as a poor signal often causes switching from 3G 7.2mb/s down to 2G 768kb/s, whereas wifi tends to fluctuate between fast and not so fast, and signals are generally better due to close proximity
thanks

Bibletime |

Executing Bibletime on my Laptop results in the screen shown. It tries to start but just shows the blank square. It works fine on my desktop computer. Possibly the attached sys-report can give some insight into the problem.
Thanks,
Jim

Hmm, I'm not sure if the kernel even knows that information. I'll look into it.

I have been working on a pet for Python3 with Pygame. I have a problem in that if I include SDL_image, I get an error when I build. But if I leave it out, Pygame can only import .bmp images.
I did get it to work in Racy 5.2.2 - just need to remember how!

Trick with Midori cache seems to be to set it to zero. It either understands zero or 'runaway'

Hello futwerk,
I am a fan of your enhousiastic wallpapers, and you have created a lot of them. When I install them, and work with them for a while, I notice that they are quite colorfull, and have a tendency to "hide" the icons that I typically place a few on my desktop. With Xfce in Saluki, these icons also "seem" smaller (maybe simply because they are further appart) than in other puppies.
Do you have an idea for a wallpaper that is more plain in color, and maybe where the Saluki icon remains "shiny" but less prominent ?
It is difficult for me to describe (english is a foreign language for me) but I have attached a link to a picture that explains what I mean. Forget about the banana in the middle.

Ah yes RutilT....I'd forgotten about that....my intro to puppy back in April 2007 consisted of a long running battle to both comprehend the strange language of linux to a windoze 98 refugee, and setting up a wifi using RutilT as used to be in puppy 214R
a bit of history...support from HairyWill
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=16973
As I recall, I wasn't impressed
Basically all I'm after is maybe some text to display on the 'active interfaces' 2 monitors icon, when doing a mouseover that displays 3G or wifi signal strength, or a separate icon that does the same
As I understand it RutilT merely makes that info available IF YOU GO LOOKING FOR IT....which is not quite the same
The info I'd like to use is available [for wifi] in iwconfig:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"BTHomeHub2-CC8N"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz Access Point: 00:26:44:EE:xx:xx
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=33/70 Signal level=-77 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
How to add it to the active interfaces info is what I'm after...thanks
Edit: went back to my original post, saw your post which led me here
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=76705
downloaded slacko dotpet and voila!
Now to figure out why my interface is fluctuating from 20% to 67% signal
thanks Phil!

I think that "cat /sys/calss/net/<iface>/wireless/link" should give the wifi signal strength. "AT+CSQ" to the proper /dev/ttyUSB, the GSM signal strength.Techno's simple icon tray could help with visualization. But I'm not sure how robustly you can detect these in all hardware settings. Specially for the 3G.

3G update [as wifi now visible with RutilT]
There is an old program called Umtsmon, which appears unsupported since 2008, which apparently had that facility
http://sourceforge.net/projects/umtsmon/
any takers...?
