Need "how to" on using Puppy to fix flashdisk/"other"-disk

#1 Post by Master_wrong »

hi,

as we know puppy run on any media and best suited as repair platform, i wonder why no one has written a howto on fixing or rescue data on dying harddisk/flashdisk ?

such as this one ?
http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8366
basically it show how to rescue data inside dying flashdisk...

another useful program is this
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download
which among other thing can repair or copy content into img files when using ./testdisk_static, these img files hopefully can be revived later (sort of various fdisk/partition/other program and dd with gui)
howto...
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/15761/re ... u-live-cd/

Scalpel...
http://www.digitalforensicssolutions.com/Scalpel/

foremost
http://sourceforge.net/projects/foremost/

other thing i find useful is
"$ tail -F /var/log/messages "
as it can be used with other terminal running
"sudo fsck.vfat -r /dev/sdb1" or other like fdisk etc and it will show if there is hardware error.
