I forgot to ask if if .debs are sufficient.

Because once you have .debs for those required files, you can easily make them .pet using the deb2pet program.

Hi RSH and Everyone,

Is there a command for the terminal to check and see every dependence of an installed program?

What I want to do is create a Barebones well almost. All but the programs that I will be using. Was thinking to make all other programs SFS not sure though on how to do this.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

I think there's a menu entry that does that.

Menu>setup>check dependencies

Though I don't know if shows all the dependencies. You may have to look up each installed program online.

I recommend pkgs.org because they actually list all the dependencies for each program.

However that's not counting the default puppy apps because they are unique to puppy.

Hi Gnuxo,

the one in puppy menu only checks and sees if there are any missing and lets you know.

It first will only check the ones the usr has installed and than the rest that are in puppy.

Thanks

Also...when you go to remove pre-installed packages there will be a warning of programs that could break because of it's removal.

So, that way you'll know what affects what and if you write down the list, you'll narrow down what you need or don't need.

Yes I have used that before.

I want to remove any libs that I will not need and have them install as the programs that need them get installed.

Ok, RSH.
Here's a few packages I found.

Build Essential: http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 5_i386.deb

Libgstreamer0-10-dev:
http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 1_i386.deb

Libgstreamer-plugins-10-base-dev:
http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 1_i386.deb

Libgstreamer-plugins-10-base:
http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 1_i386.deb

libgtk2.0-dev:
http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 1_i386.deb

libncurses-dev:http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 7_i386.deb

I posted gstreamer plugins good, bad and ugly in an earlier post.

Phonon-backend-gstreamer:http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 2_i386.deb

ffmpeg-gstreamer:http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian-multime ... 2_i386.deb

I think that's it for now.
I hope these are enough.

Hi.

@oldyeller

Yes, there is a command for the terminal. The command is: ldd and it needs a filename (application or library) as parameter (example: ldd /usr/bin/abiword).

I have made a .pet (Dependencies Checker) that is already in LazY Puppy and can be used in other puppies. It must be somewhere in the Utilities section. Just do a right-click on a library or application. It shows the results in a text editor or in the terminal (option to choose) - the terminal stays open and usable.

Found it, the .pet is here.

What specific help do you need on making sfs files?

@Gnuxo

Thanks a lot for the links you've posted. This will save a lot of time to me (searching files on the web isn't as easy to do for me as it might be for an english user). I do surely need more than doubled time to read and understand and not to download the wrong files. This is so hard... ...i mostly give up.

I have taken a look at the gstreamer plugins yesterday and there is something, that confuses me. How do i take "bad" and "ugly" in the file names? Does this mean bad, ugly - do not download?

After having a look at the downloaded gstreamer plugins to me it looks like adding all these needed/requested files will not make a that lightweight links-browser-gst.sfs as it looks like having a look only on the links browser - this will increase its size surely up to 10mb or even more... (and it might increase the size of the iso as well, if some files needed to be installed).

No Gstreamer-plugin bad, good and ugly are all nice.

In english there is a movie called the good, the bad and the ugly and that's probably why they are called that.

I know that the ugly plugin is non-free codecs and that's why it's called that.
...And the bad one, I don't know what's bad about it since it handles mpeg streaming.

As for the size, it depends on the functionality. The more plugins you add, the more content gstreamer will be able to handle. So, it really depends on how much functionality you'd want out of gstreamer. It could be worse, totem requires gnome and parole requires xfce libraries.

GST123 doesn't require any of that.

Oh Thank You!!!

RSH, remember I said that I put a request notice up for gst123? Well it was answered.

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=78867

This should save you a whole lot of work.

Oh and if you already have gst123.pet and you remove the dev stuff and just have plugins that will keep the iso size pretty small. Because the plugins aren't that big.

Libgstreamer and ffmpeg are the only libraries really needed. And they aren't that big either.

I forgot to include this plugin, it's the gstreamer plugin for alsa.
http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... 1_i386.deb

I'm currently testing the gst123.pet myself so I can gauge how it works.

Gstreamer (SFS)

#326 Post by shinobar »

FYI:
I have not tested on LazY, but the gstreamer-0.10.35-lucid.sfs, compiled on Lupu-528, worked on Lucid Puppy 528.

Thanks. I think it's a little too big for this "project" but it might be usable in other cases...

@Gnuxo

Here is the Links download folder of my mediafire web space. There you'll find different versions of links as .pet and .sfs. One version only contains gst123 the other version contains gst123, gstreamer-alsa and -ffmpeg.

The small version is about 4mb the bigger one is about 8mb.

The "LP_2" files are made especially for LazY Puppy.

I do not know, how to use gst123 so please let me know, what works and what doesn't.

Thanks for your effort

LazY Puppy 2.0.2 is on the way

#328 Post by RSH »

LazY Puppy 2.0.2, Final LazY Puppy finally has got a Logo.

Image

Now, that the logo is finished it will not take too much time to upload the LazY Puppy 2.0.2.

Today, in between of 23:00 and 00:00, GMT+1, i will remove the LazY Puppy 2.0.1 sfs files. Uploading the new sfs files for LazY Puppy 2.0.2 will take the whole day tomorrow (sometimes my connection runs on 6kb/s).

If all files are uploaded i will download the whole system once using the download functions of the Run-Scripts and install (hopefully automatically) to my usb stick.

If everything goes fine i will make the final iso files - again de-iso and en-iso. This time i will add de-win-installer and en-win-installer.

Note: the en-win-installer will run a German gui - do just click on next until install is finished (when LazY Puppy 2.0.2 is available and downloaded)

ffplay

Gnuxo wrote:I haven't tried it yet, but there is Gst123 which is a command line audio/video player based on gstreamer. It supposedly can play anything Gstreamer supports right from the console.
I can compile and test gst123-0.3.1 against gstreamer-0.10.35-lucid.sfs. I feel it poor in its performance.

If you are seeking lightweight player, there is ffplay.

Hi RSH,

Your pet works just fine in Slacko 5.3.3

The help that I need for the making of SFS is I never did one. I know you can do pet2sfs, is dir2sfs a command?

I do not know how to do scripts to have the program load with all of its dependencies. Maybe your pup is what I need, Have downloaded it and will give it a go see.

Just to make sure you did notice that: for testings with LazY Puppy 2.0.1 it's recommended to read (to get an overview) informations from page 20 to the end.

I have posted a link to download LazY Puppy 2.0.2 pre-release at the first post. You can download and use the (still available) sfs files. You might get messages about different md5sums - don't care about that for your testings.

But please note the "pre"...

Hi RSH,

You have one awesome puppy going on. I do very much appreciate all of your hard work that you have put into this.

And all the time that you translated it into English I know how hard it is to do that when English is backwards in structure compared to the rest of the world.

Look forward to 2.0.2 really great and awesome job my Friend.

I did fall asleep yesterday evening at the sofa (too many hours of work) - so i do have to delay all planned/needed work. All files are still available. I will re-start and continue my work tonight.
