Hi RSH

JFYI - the very high CPU activity on startup and at other times - is largely caused by Pwidgets.
when Pwidgets is removed or disabled - CPU is mostly ok.

However - have seen similar excess CPU activity caused by flash.

Have only ran Lazy528 on my old Acer Laptop so far - must try on EeePC and newer laptop.

Many thanks for all you have done with Lazy - fantastic puppy - much appreciated.

Very bets regards - Ray

Ray I tested to edit which widget to keep?
I have widgets now on Snow Puppy 5 that Pemasu made
and they don't take so much cpu.

Maybe it is a subjective thing. I am not good at knowing how to
measure such things. I am happy it all works now.

Now I only have to learn the SFS thing.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum

Quick & Easy Information to BugFixes, Updates & more

Hello,

i am online outside my home. I will use that way to get here for a few days.

Unfortunately (nobody is perfect) i have to inform you about a small bug in the LazY Puppy preferences GUI. The changes made are not being saved, if you are using english keyboard layout. I attached a pet to fix it. Please download this pet if you are using endlish keyboard layout.

It is not needed if you are using german keyboard layout.
nooby wrote:Now I only have to learn the SFS thing.
Just copy the downloaded sfs files into the directory of lazy_528.sfs (f.e. /mnt/sdb1/LazY/)

After that got to "Menu>SFS Applications>LazY SFS Direkt Load" and run the wanted sfs by menu entry or run the "LazY528 Application sfs-load".

Another reason could be the NewFBPanel with plugs by stu90.

As you can see there are several plugs active in the fbpanel. You can disable them in the desktop menu (fbpanel preferences or configuration)

Thank you very much.

QuickInstall > Menu LazY Puppy > LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4 Lazarus & Free Pascal

Download all files inside the directory into the same location and click the .sh file to build the sfs.

Hello,
Lobster wrote:Are you coding and compiling some of your code in Pascal? That is new.
Actually there is nothing in LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4 that has been compiled in Pascal. I am trying to "re-invent" a DTP Score Editor that i have programmed in ST Pascal + (Atari ST Series), in the middle of the 1990's. It has more than 75000 Lines of Code and it seems to be a lifetime job. Actually i am learning on Lazarus because Free Pascal is different to the Pascal, that i have learned.

Everything i have coded inside LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4 is been made using ShellScript (Bash, actually i like this very much) and most of this can be found in /usr/sbin/ceelab/.
Do tell us about your experiences in putting this together. Few people realize the work involved until told . . .
I will do this in a few days. I have copied the thread and do write the story offline, at home.

Download all files inside the directory into the same location and click the .sh file to build the sfs.
You might also need to make the script executable (right click, Properties)

RSH hope it is okay to ask why I get taken to a page with
extremely many ads on when I click on quick.

I am a poor reader of text? Did you warn about this being a choice
you had to do? Do you get money from them or what?

I would have preferred to have been warned first.
Maybe you did and I failed to read that part on page one of this thread?

Hi nooby.

Please feel free, to ask, whatever you want to ask me!

In the Post to Lazarus i have told that my files are hosted at mediafire, i should have better done this in the main post.

I don't have own webspace, so i deceide mediafire. I have tried some other filehosters, but most of them just want to get my email adress. They never returned a message to me so that i could activate the webspace. Mediafire does.

I do not get money from mediafire or any other person/organization etc.pp.

I did this all:

1. I just wanted to have a system like LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4
2. I want to give back something to the users of puppy linux (especially the users of this forum) because they gave me a lot of help (as you can see, i have joined the forum in September 2011, so i am quite new to linux as well).

I did not want to make anybody angry.

I have tried to download some files. What is wrong with that site? (Attachment)

Thank you emil for adding this information. I sometimes forget a downloaded shellscript file can be in-executable after download.

Haven't subjected this to a lot of testing but when I turned off the "cpu graph" and left the rest running my cpu activity returned to normal.YMMV.

At first i have to say: i have loved the .pup (Muppy 08.3F). The .pup always gave me Information about existing files before it continues to install. The .pet overwrites every existing file and keeps the action "classified". So to me the .pup is LINUX and the .pet is WINDOWS. Windows doesn't take care of the mbr. It overwrites everything that is in the mbr. And so is the .pet. Linux takes care of the mbr. You will always get your windows system (if installed), no matter how much Puppies/Linux's you have installed (did never ever hear of another case). And similar is the .pup.

This took me to the following way to work out and put together .pet and .sfs files.

1. Step/Rule
------------
1.a Boot always clean system
1.b Only install .pet files without using a save file (Live, CD or USB)
1.c Only install .pet files to check out the program (it runs? it works?)

2. Step/Rule
------------
2.a Boot always clean System
2.b Extract the .pet (extract to Linux partition, to keep the links)
2.c Copy the extracted .pet manually into the linux system

2.d Do not allow to replace existing files

- 2.d.a Create a directory containing exactly the structure of the files that want to overwrite existing ones
- 2.d.b Move the files that want to overwrite existing files into that created directory
- (do this step by step, and always before clicking OK, until all files are copied, maybe lots of directories and subdirs have to be created)
- 2.d.c Create a .pet out of the directory of the extracted .pet, that now should miss those files that have wanted to overwrite existing files
- 2.d.d Create a .pet out of the directory that contains the moved files
- 2.d.e Rename the .pet's (familiar to another but different to the original)
- 2.d.f Backup the .pet's (and the directories, they maybe needed later)

2.e Refresh the menu to get the desktop entry (openbox refresh menu refreshes fbpanel also and calls fixmenus (afaik))
2.f Run the program and use it as it should be used for

3. Step/Rule
------------
3.a If everything has been fine, decide if you want to use/install the program (keep the .pet's!)

Otherwise

- 3.b Program crashes or some functions doesn't work? Install the created .pet containing the moved files
- 3.b.a Do exactly (exactly as you can) what you have done as the program crashes
- 3.b.b If the program doesn't crash and all functions seem to work i usually open my window and JUMP (just kidding)
- (This is always the point where hard and long during work has its start)
- 3.b.c Boot always clean system
- 3.b.d Check file differences manually file by file (existed and moved)
- 3.b.e If moved file is a link and existed file has a "double" (same size, familiar name f.e. =.so to =.so.0 then maybe everything will be ok
- If moved file and existed file have the same size and just different date and/or time then maybe everything will be ok

Otherwise = QUIT (maybe put this one in a sfs but not installing this one using save file and/or remastering cd)

4. Step/Rule
------------
4.a Next .pet
4.b Go back to 1.

I have been really surprised about getting this offer! :D

you made a mistake in installing psnapshot on Lazy.

Here's the quick way of correcting it.
Just change the Exec line in the .desktop file

Image

Change the line to
Exec=/usr/local/psnapshot/psnapshot

This is all that is needed to launch psnapshot.

To show the German language you will need to install
the locals which you can get here.

You forgot to put pCD in the start menu.
I was able to launch it with a terminal command
and it showed in German.

Both .ogg and .aif sound files will open with mhwaveedit,
so it would make sense to have a right click option
'Edit with mhwaveedit' for these files.

Scripts have a right click option to be opened with Abiword,
but I suggest that this be removed and replaced with a text editor.

Abiword can fool an inexperienced user because of
it's Smart Quotes feature.

spell checking in German

#62 Post by don570 »

I was able to get the spell checking to work in German while
using Abiword and Sylpheed.

Here's how I did it.

1) I deleted all files named 'normal.awt'
(because Abiword looks at the tail of this file to find the language
to set up the template document. It found en-US there
so it was setting up the documents as English at first launch!!)

2) I installed my new version 1.2 of abispell-de dictionary.
Available HERE

By the way it has a pinstall script to delete the normal.awt file
automatically so the user is spared that work.

Now if German is the operating system's language the German
dictionary will be used, and if English is the operating system's
language the English dictionary is used.

However this is an old German dictionary (before the spelling Reform)
so expect some words like 'dass' or 'musste' to be underlined with red
when they shouldn't. :(

___________________________________________________

Sylpheed has a configuration file
/root/.sylpheed-2.0/sylpheedrc
that sets the preferred language for spellchecking I believe.
I'll have to check that again.

I can not confirm this message posted by you. As you can see in the image both, mtpaintsnapshot and psnapshot running by using the menu entries.

I did no changes (except translation) in the psnapshot.desktop file and the mtpaintsnapshot is the new one. Copied manually into the system, overwrites the original and runs without changing something in the mtpaintsnapshot.desktop file (except translation)

Tough, thank you for your posts.

I think you're confused. The left side of the picture
shows pupsnap which I have nothing to do with.

And the right side of the picture shows mtpaintsnapshot.sh
which is recent and I had nothing to do with that as well

But Lazy does have psnapshot installed as well
(which I like and did have a hand in writing)

Just follow my instructions and you will have a German
Screenshot program
(or didn't you install psnapshot??)

By the way the desktop file that you change the
Exec line is the mtpaint snapshot capture .desktop file.

I didn't see a psnapshot.desktop file
