HP Mini Netbook - No internet

#1 Post by Schlaffi »

Hello,

I am using Ubuntu since some years but inspite of it I got no knowledge because its so userfriendly.. ;-)

But I love Puppy its so nice and funny - the problem is that i get no internetconnection:

The hardware of my netbook:

HP-Mini-210-2000:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 IEEE 802.11 Access Point: Not-Associated
Link Quality:4 Signal level:194 Noise level:163
Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:1 invalid misc:0

P-Mini-210-2000:~$ lspci
0:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02)
00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation NM10 Family LPC Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH7 Family SATA AHCI Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family SMBus Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)

HP-Mini-210-2000:~$ lspci |grep -i net
01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)

Puppy knows that its a RTL8101E/RTL8102E but all the moduls are not working..

A wellknown problem?
Where i get the driver?

Regards,
S.

What version of Puppy are you using?
What type connection do you want?
Wired or wireless?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

Try this guide to setting up wireless connection.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=65346

Also, go to menu->help->LupuNews Help
Try the info given about connecting to internet.
If you need a new driver there are links posted for that also.

The problem is that in the Puppy Network Wizzard is no "wlan 0", I can see only the "eth 0".

Can you give me the link to the LupuNews Help?

Thanks,
S.

Works with Browser 501 and Broadcom 4322

#9 Post by didBisync »

I wanted a fast boot browser and email so I installed Puppy Browser 501 and added broadcom_sta-5.6.48.36-i486.pet without any other changes. That gave me a wireless on a Broadcom 4322. It might work on a 4311. I did lose USB mouse support which I'm discussing here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=74816.
