PostPosted: Wed 25 Jan 2012, 14:51    Post subject: Touchpad

Hi.
Probably i am doing something wrong, but how to enable tapping with my touchpad ?
I can only move my cursor, but to execute i have to right click.
Configuring my touchpad didn't do anything.
My laptop is DELL latitude c610.
I don't have that problem with LUPQ-511 and Lucid Puppy.
Thanks in advance.

Subject description: ....all good after tweaks

Thanks for this one Mick....i was about to d/l 5.3.1.3 when it suddenly morphed into 5.3.1.4 in front of my very eyes Laughing

Very snappy on this modest 1.8GHz T42P, i like it very much.

I'm pleased to report that compiz is working a treat now, but initially i was experiencing the same issue as rhadon in this post, regarding the 2nd image and the "Software Rasteriser in use" error.

After entering the code you suggested, for turning on kernel modesetting, i rebooted, dropped to the prompt and fired up the dummy with roaring success Very Happy

CatDude's patient assistance with aspects of this voyage of discovery is very much appreciated, too..

01micko. Have you or do you intend to upload puppy patches for the 3.2.1 kernel. Aufs patches I should get from aufs site ?
It would save a lot work if you have patches to offer Very Happy

Yes Smile

I am going one better and posting the fully automated build kit based on Iguleder's work. The big change though is that when it's time to swap over the DOTconfig to the kernel source the script pauses and offers to open a config tool of your choice to configure the kernel. Also, the slacko suffixes (custom and package_name) are hard coded so you need to change that unless you want ta slacko branded dpup kernel! You should not need to do anything manually, just run dir2pet. I can automate this too.. later maybe.

There is also a bug in 3builddistro in woof, I have a nasty hack for now but I'll explain the gist of it.

@ line 215 I had to change head to tail. This is because I have a custom naming. "head" or "tail" is wrong really and what should happen is that the symlink be read with readlink, but it was getting late and as usual I was running out of time Shocked . If you don't do this you can end up with a non-booting iso image. You can see the error pop up if you look close when the kernel is merged with the rootfs. I'll patch it properly later and report to Barry.

Have fun!

Slacko-5.3.1.4 boots and works OK on Celeron 900MHz 512RAM. I see no problems except for Russian translation in menu in some places.

@russoodle.. you can't go wrong with the King-o-Bling's advice Wink

-

There's a little bling for your browser in the main post. I'd include it in the build but the only way I know how is to hard code it in /root/.mozilla.. I don't do that. I haven't written anything hard coded to /root in awhile and I'm not about to revert to that bad habit.

You can easily make personas yourself. I was surprised how easy it was. You need to do it in firefox though (but it can be worn by seamonkey). You also need the "personas plus" extension then follow this tut.

-
@rodin.s , can you update the translation? Or is it a software issue?

Manual frugal install on the main Athlon XP box...... no problems.Actually seems to be consuming a bit less ram than previous kernels.

I will update it when I find the file. It's in new jwm-tools somewhere but I haven't found it yet.
I would also suggest upgrading Homebank to version 4.4 like iguleder did in his puplets. It has version 4.4 more then a year now.

Thanks 01micko. Testing now your scripts. I tried not to create slacko kernel, lol.
So far looks good. Of course I had to change something in DOTconfig. Just for my liking, nothing important was left out, what I quickly scanned.
And the build.sh script is great already.
Big hand for you form snowy Finland.

I'm running from the live dvd with a save file.
I used SNS on the wireless network.
I installed the mesa driver from slickpet.
I installed a Goggles Music Manager 0.12.6 sfs that I made today (it
needs mesa from quickpet installed to work), if anyone might like it
tell me here and I'll upload it and post the download link.

I have found and corrected jwm file. It was in /usr/share/locale/ru/LC_MESSAGES
I also noticed that reminder to install flash player appears each time when browser is started if I say 'no'.

Thanks rodin.s

I'll fix the flash popup issue in /usr/sbin/delayedrun (note slacko's version is a custom)

Billtoo, goggles music mgr will be a fine addition to PPM, please post.
