A central registry of artistic talent for Puppy

#1 Post by sickgut »

hi dogfarmers

there are so many puplets and so many people making them as well as other puppy derivatives in other forms. Most of these will want to add some custom logo, backgrounds, icons etc etc maybe even some unique sounds.

personally i have no sense of aesthetics whatsoever and in the past i have found myself begging people to help me with even a simple logo.

it would be good is those of you with artistic talent who are willing to help people make their pupplets better by supplying custom logos etc would come forward.

both parties can benefit, the puplet producer as the pupplet ends up looking and or sounding much better and the artist because their name and or website etc will be given credit in the OS. Personally in the past I have paid actual hard earned money to get a logo designed, and im sure there are artists in the puppy community that are willing to help out for a small fee.

i propose we create a website or even a forum thread where artists can reveal themselves and so they can be contacted regarding helping out with the artwork for different works of puppy is they are so inclined.

Hi, I am very new to graphics but I am willing to give it a shot. I do most of my work on a Mac but I run Linux in VB's so I can test them. Most of my exp is in video over the last few years (hobby) but am now moving into graphics. -John

Speaking of animation, and remembering the original puppy graphic, I found this by doing a web search for animated dogs.

Maybe something here will appeal to you.

With the name chosen of Pussy linux, I think he ls looking for some form of cat banner.
I saw a background that was a combination of two graphics with one being a cat.
I will have to see if I still have it.
EDIT:
I am back from win and its updates to Puppy and I still have the cat background graphic I cropped from one with two pictures.
Maybe you will like it.
EDIT: I got this from a forum member's collection, but I cannot remember whose it was.

Thanks. I think I found the original artist: http://mygraphicmayhem.com/

Apparently "fractal cats" are a thing going around:

Sickgut,
Just a word of warning - if you want to use that great-looking 'fractal cat' to advertise your product (even a free one) I'm pretty sure you'll need permission from the original artist (the guy that Tubeguy located).

I'd drop him a line, telling him how wonderful (and free) Puppy/Pussy is, spinning the angle of free publicity for his art and asking politely for permission to use it. Keep yourself safe from the copyright lawyers. Not everything in this world is Open Source.

I've heard there are some sharks out there who look for this type of thing online and then contact the artist offering their legal services...
Computers: - I just ride 'em, I dunno what makes 'em work.
Console/Terminal? What's that?

definately....
i will actualy pay real money to be able to use the logo/ wallpaper from the artist. But i will offer first to have the artwork in my distro and make the artists email or website addy noticeable so the artist may see the extra publicity as enough compensation, if this is the case then i may offer to only include this one artists artwork for wall paper etc and so over the next few years he will maybe generate more interest from people and get kinda free advertising. But if i have to pay money i wont give credit etc to the artist in the same way as if the artist was willing to offer it for free.
