GTK3 ALPHA Classic Pup 2.14X bleeding edge version

Hi Guys I figured since nobody else has used gtk3 on puppy I figured 2.14X might as well be the first puppy ever to use it :)
anyways this version of 2.14x is an alpha version and if you want to lend a hand fixing the gtk3 related issues please feel free to give fixes etc, I'm working fulltime and only have limited hours.

This release has 3 gtk3 apps included, evince-3.3.4, file-roller-3.3.2, lxappearance-0.5.1, plus it has 4 gtk3 themes Aldabra, Drakfire-Zuki, Orion, bubble, bubble runs of the librsvg-2.35.1, also added the unico-1.0.1 theme engine, I had to update
automake-1.11.1, dconf-0.10.0, librsvg-2.35.1, poppler-0.18.3

The gtk3 issues are the fonts aren't being set properly, the only gtk3 theme that works properly is bubble , just run lxappearance by the terminal to see the errors also xerrs. maybe I need to add more theme engines.

also jpg isn't working on mtpaint, or gimp, hmmm just found that out.
xscreensaver works for a bit then it dies, lol
anyways its a true alpha :) this should be fun

This looks like a very promising Pup - nice to see the later versions of Abiword and Gnumeric here too.

Just one thing though; Aurora doesn't display pages well on my system (images are sometimes missing or fuzzed out on pages). Is it possible to replace it with a later or different version of Aurora or Firefox, and if so, how?

Thanks in advance,

CP .

you should be able to delete /lib/firefox and replace it with any other firefox in that location, just download the latest from mozilla and extract it to /lib/ and make sure the folder is still called firefox thats it pretty simple, delete, extract and check the folders name.

Aurora crashes

Hi Ttuuxxx, just wanted to let you know that I downloaded this, running from live cd, and going to insideline.com causes an immediate crash of Classic Pup. I tried this 3 consecutive times, and each time it crashed and takes you to the # sign, where I entered startx each time. After each time, reopened browser, entered insideline.com in address bar. It starts to load, and then crashes Classic Pup. Nothing to worry about for me, but just wanted to let you know. Thanks, Rob

thanks for that sound like flash or system link issue with xorg, I don't have that issue but I've highly modified my 2.14X version right now, I'll try to crash it when I restart fresh my pc, in a day or two :)

If you like making motif/Fractal you might want to try this gtk3 only app, Its take a lot of cpu power to make Fractal images, so a somewhat newer pc would be better, but give it a try anyways if you like :)

"Mutiara helps you to create intricate motifs to adorn borders of web pages, invitation cards and so on. Fractal enthusiasts can use Mutiara to explore and discover interesting fractal specimens."

Well by the delayed responses I guess puppy linux shouldn't be so bleeding edge for gtk3, fine I'll drop this future version for the more stable 2.14X,
I've spent countless hours bringing this version to light, But it lacks input. Fine after gt2 is finished so be 2.14X !! I take my time time away from my wife and kids to make theses releases and when something astonishing like this version happens and really almost nobody cares or responds I give up.

For what it's worth, no problems with that site here. Running live and using Xvesa and Aurora at the moment.

Hi James, did you modify anything? I had not changed anything, no pupsave or anything else. Just ran straight from cd, did not add or remove any software. Thanks, Rob

Just experimenting a bit.... installed the Murrine and Equinox engines and got rid of some of the messages in the xerrs.log. Installed the Adwaita engine and got rid of more.
I think I may be running Drakfire-Zuki.......not sure what it's supposed to look like though.

Code: Select all

gtk-theme-name="Drakfire-Zuki"
gtk-icon-theme-name="hicolor"
gtk-font-name="Sans 10"
gtk-cursor-theme-size=0
gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_BOTH
gtk-toolbar-icon-size=GTK_ICON_SIZE_LARGE_TOOLBAR
gtk-button-images=1
gtk-menu-images=1
gtk-enable-event-sounds=1
gtk-enable-input-feedback-sounds=1
gtk-xft-antialias=1
gtk-xft-hinting=1
gtk-xft-hintstyle="hintfull"
include "/root/.gtkrc-2.0.mine"
