I agree, OpenBox is my preferred desktop manager since G
was a B, BUT HELP!
I just put on Precise Puppy, and there's only JWM, which , although very respectable, is NOT OpenBox.
So I've installed OB and all the deps, but as Precise doesn't have a desktop man. changer, like Lucid had, I can't get the darned thing to work.
Any one got an IDEA?

Just exit to command-line and type (without quotes) "xwin openbox" or "startx openbox"! :)

I also need Precise 5.7 to boot into Openbox with tint2 instead of jwm.

vicmz ,

You just gave me several more reasons to keep using Puppy. This is awesome!!

When I switch to openbox, the panel that runs along the top, is that wbar? How do I configure it?

So this means that I can install icewm and use the WM switcher to switch between openbox, and jwm as well?

Why would anyone want to use another distros after experiencing all this flexibility.

Now I am going to see if I can install Precise on my iMac. I have Crunchbang dual booting at the moment but I am sure I can do a frugal install of Precise and boot into it if I want. So many possibilities!! :)

No, it isn't wbar, it's Lxpanel. It allows to have a second and third panel, so I set up a panel that launches default programs, whatever you set as default that's what it launches (word processor, media player, image editor, etc.). To edit it you can right click and choose Panel Settings, but note that the launch files are at /root/.config/lxpanel, if you remove something you'll have to edit the panel file manually to restore it. At the moment the top panel icon theme changes only after restarting X. If you do want Wbar there's a pet for Precise in the first post of the OpenboxPlus thread.

Yes (and XFCE, too), except for E17, I tried a package from the Desktop section and it set as default WM.

Went to see the original wallpaper that started this thread.

"An Error Occurred" was all I got :(

Dangit, I'm curious -- I want to see the wall!
