This brings back nice memories , i installed netscape and got flash running , just copy /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so to /root/navigator/plugins and have fun.
And you will be having an out of date browser notice on youtube, just dont pay attention.

Please make sure your flash is not the latest version since it will not work , it needs the version 10 flash or older.

Many thanks to 666philb.

There is more info. on this version here:
http://moz.sillydog.org/archives/netscape_9006.php

For earlier stuff see
http://sillydog.org/narchive/

I have a yearning for old-time browser functionality ....
[rant] I loathe, hate and detest FF ... What has happened to the dinosaur people, each new development seems worse, more layers of unwanted garbage, downdumbing M$-style ...... vanity publishing? .... or a Gogule conspiracy? [/rant]

The PET is just great, but grrrrr, this Netscape 9006 version unfortunately seems to use the rotten FF engine with a retro facade applied, so it suffers from the exquisitely bad text rendering etc. etc. etc. (versus e.g. Seamonkey) of the corresponding FF.

Still ... sillydog's earlier versions may well be worth a sniff ... and oh for days of Netscape 3!

(Anyone know of a decent really basic browser with JavaScript functionality?).

Not to mention it would have more holes than swiss cheese!

I reckon some one could rebadge seamonkey and at least achieve the desired goal, a netscape look'n'feel I presume.

Watching this thread with interest. I started using Netscape when it was a standalone browser. I used every version except 6, which was not well received. 7.2 was the last version I used on win. I did not agree to aol's user agreement and did not download 8. I reluctantly changed to Seamonkey. Seamonkey mail is backward compatible with Netscape and bookmarks are just an html file. aol still owns Netscape and I have wondered why they released version 9.
Cheers
