I took the dive and installed Pup Lucid 5.28 to my hard drive. So far, it runs like an absolute dream! However, unlike the flash drive version, I saw no option during the installation to encrypt the partition. How is this accomplished? I wish to give Puppy heavy encryption due to the nature of business and a nosy son. Wink

If you only have one partition for everything and Puppy is on it, I don't think you can encrypt it because the initial small Linux that starts the boot process couldn't read the rest of the Puppy files to load them.

In other words, perhaps you need to partition your hard disk so that you can keep secret stuff on the second partition, which can be encrypted. The first partition (where Puppy is installed) would remain unencrypted.

I'm just winging it. I'm no expert in encrypting with Puppy! Smile

Hmm . . . I have two partitions. However, with the exception of paperwork, one partition isn't more secret than the other. Crap.

Ok, thanks for the reply!
