Billtoo (or anyone else),Billtoo wrote:It's working okay so far, highlighting and copying text from one
document to another is a little difficult because the highlighted text
doesn't show as highlighted at first but is once you click on the
destination document.
I couldn't find the report-video file in /tmp/root, changed the
wallpaper to one a little easier on the eyes.
I don't understand the above.
Highlighted text, where?
I can highlight text in any application, and it is perfectly visible as being highlighted.

Re: RC2
Your eth0 cable is connected to a live network? Puppy will automatically use that as the Internet connection at bootup, see script /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.sszindian wrote:Humph.....
Shut down RC2 (after tearing my hair out... what little is left!) Rebooted another program.... shut that down and figured I'd give one more try at Precise WiFi to see what maybe I missed.
Well... I guess I didn't miss anything because on reboot I forgot to plug in my eth0 cable and Precise fired right up and low and behold WiFi was '''connected'' and seems to be working OK!!!!
Like I say, I don't have very much hair left after this one since 5.2.60
Other than the rt2800usb thingy... Precise runs like a champ in all other areas I tested so far...

Regarding - highlighting - it’s fine and is working.
However, changing gtk theme, improved things dramatically,
especially in abiword.

Re: ALSA modem support missing
Thanks, done.rerwin wrote:Barry,
To continue support for ALSA modems, the slmodemd daemon is required. However, it is not present in 5.3.97. That is because the firmware package firmware_linux_module_slmodem-20121004 was not included in the woof-installed-packages list. Please add that to the list for the final release, to avoid a regression for ALSA-modem users. (It does not require the presence of the slamr or slusb drivers, which should be omitted.) Thanks.

Hmmm, highlighting in Abiword, I have posted when first drag over some text, then second image when window has lost focus.Ray MK wrote:Regarding - highlighting - it’s fine and is working.

I can't see anything wrong with the readability.

MOUSE FROZEN at boot RC2
Still occurring with worsening failure rate on first boot, seems to be a precise issue, rarely happens with current Wary. Have yet got mouse working will keep trying and let you know if it ever clears that lockup.
Wireless

No eth0 (or any other cables) plugged into computer from modem... definitely running wireless!!!!
System I'm running... Verizon Modem is 'also' a router with my DSL.

Mouse lockup problem research
Mouse locks up if laptop is plugged in, but boots cleanly 1 of 5 times if running on battery.
out of 41 boot attempts only successfully from battery, no pattern noticed.
Successful boots on try #s
3,19,21,25,28 only on battery power #19 and on
31- power cord removed during search for puppy.sfs
32 powercord removed then reinserted after disk io finished
41 powercord removed. (posting from this try)
So I'm guessing its a timing issue, CPU drops speed and boot speed slows somewhat if on battery

ReSquash saves size
Still confused on why a remastered sfs is smaller than orginal.

Yes, indeed. Don't know what's come over BK recently. He had one of my favourites, guy-on-a-bike, very Oz. Then he had Tyson - great - and surfing Pup, as recently as a few weeks ago. White backgrounds switch all the l.e.d s on, swamp the icons and text, and the artwork is terrible, with just about the worst set of icons ever. At the end of the day, it's subjective, but nobody expects Old Masters or even Dali.
you're showing your age sage!... i love the icons , and the background picture. and come on, it's hardly difficult to change it if you don't like it.Sage wrote:Yes, indeed. i bet If it were up to you, you would probably have that 'dog on a skateboard' background as default

About the highlight issue.
It could have something to do with peoples color vision.
Maybe the color of the highlight?
some people in general have some form of color blindness (the ability to see colors).
I have taken color blindness tests as part of my job and I have problems with certain colors.
Test your vision here:

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
