Is Omniboot rescue DVD worth all the effort to burn it? |
|
Okay to rescue maybe is not 100% about security but
you need a rescue CD to secure a computer from Trojans?
Hm I guess I get much criticism for that one.
Anyway I read about a mega big Omniboot DVD with Puppy
and Knoppix and many other OS on it and a lot of tools for
recover and rescue and so on.

Finally, news about one of those mega-compilation bootable DVD images
with dozens of useful rescue and diagnostic tools thrown in together with
several popular Linux distributions.
Created by Don Manuel, the 3.5 GB OmniBoot 0.3 live DVD comes not
only with the usual range of utilities, such as AVG Rescue CD, Hardware
Detection Tool, Kon-Boot, Memtest86+, NT Password and Registry Editor
or Plop Boot Manager,
but also a number of free operating systems in their live modes.
The list includes
SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 RC1,
FreeNAS 0.7.1,
GeeXboX 2.0,
Parted Magic 2012_2_27,
Puppy Linux 5.3.1 "Slacko",
SystemRescueCd 2.5.0,
Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.3 "Xfce",
KNOPPIX 6.7.1,
PCLinuxOS 2011.08,
Linux Mint 12 and
FreeDOS.
And that's before we'll get to the Toolbox menu,
which displays an enormous range of utilities for
boot and password management, disk diagnosis,
wiping and cloning, CPU stress testing and dozens
more for every possible administration task imaginable.
OmniBoot looks like an excellent, all-purpose Swiss Army knife
for computer geeks or PC technicians to have in their arsenal of
useful tools. Download it from SourceForge: OmniBoot v0.3 dvd.iso (3,579MB). |
Will take many many hours to download that beast?

Hi there. I still have your puppy somewhere.
Unless I have deleted it by accident.
Hope life treats you well now when you
are away from the cold spring of Alaska.
You are a traveling man that is for sure.

Thanks for your kind words nooby. I've gotten lucky for the last few days in that my internet is working fairly well, well enough to post through a text browser anyway. I was going to start working on a new version of both of my Puppies as I've been downloading sources for the last few days since my net has been up but i'm thinking now since Saluki is almost done I'll wait for that and have someone send me a copy to work on (it would literally take me weeks to download).

@DPUP5520. Your PUPrescue is a quietly kept jewel.
And, so is your ANgryIP and some other tools you have provided.
@DPUPD5520... check your PM.
