How to install TuxPaint, TuxMath and TuxTyping

#1 Post by SamSung »

Apologies if this has been covered before, I could not find it so here goes this currently works in a 1.07 HDD install. I have only just installed and run the apps but will test more over the next few days. Of course feedback is good.

A) Download the apps from here
ftp://grafpup.com/pub/unleashed_packages
Thanks to Grafpup

B) Download the SDL Libs dot pup here
http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic ... ght=libsdl
Install the dot pup

Extract the downloaded apps from A) to a directory and then manually move them keeping the directory structure that they had when they extracted.

Create menu items for the executables et voila you have some excellent kids games.

Hope you find it useful

Thanks for the tip :)

I think, you also can install them with pupget.
Choose "install alien package".
Then select the .tar.gz -files in the File-dialog.

This method just works with .tar.gz -files made especially for Puppy, but Grafpup is almost compatible with Puppy.

This just works, if you don't have some erratic Gtk-themes installed on your system, that could cause Pupget to work incorrect.

Thanks for the tip about the alien package I never thought to use that. I will have to consider it in the future.

Well I have tested the apps a bit more playing each of them and they work fine both sound and graphics. I will test a bit more on another day to ensure stability.

Doe anyone know of any other kids type edu software that has been successfully installed in Puppy, I would really like Gcompris but if MU cannot get it to run then I have no hope.
