Saluki and the Solar Fridge

#1 Post by Dromeno »

I wonder... is one forum
thread for all aspects of Saluki really such a good idea? Now I have to put deep insights such as the following also here:

IMHO... Saluki shows where geeky techno feminism (GTF) is or can be about. For instance, this is how the (male) NASA designs a solar fridge:

...and here is how a GTF grl thinks of it:

Why do I put in the male/female argument? I think it is because both MS and Apple (and even most Linux distros) have something in them which want to make their systems Really Impressive. But then there are PuppEEE and Saluki. Which just work. Are simple. And pretty on the eyes (hey.. come on...I am a man).

Regarding Saluki there is no reason why separate threads on specifics can't be started in different threads and sub-forums. This usually happens with other Puppies after the first full release has been made.

I think we are missing out on a lot of innovation due to the male dominance in technical fields.

However, I think other factors are at play. Including built-in obsolescence and big companies unwilling to take risks. Also, creativity isn't necessarily brought about by paying high wages.

clever, but uses an incredibly scarce resource in africa - water. People already die because of the lack of it. If you could combine her refridgerator with a condensor to capture the clean evaporated water then it might be a winner!

no fresh water needed!

No. The problem in most poor countries is not a lack of water but a lack of drinkable water. The solar fridge works with any kind of water, no matter how contaminated it is

Hi i asked the same question in the saluki forums. and teh dev said that he will probable do a new forum post when the official 1.0 release comes out. it does make it annoying and i feel what you are saying. but its just how things are doing.

edit Now i linked to this post in teh saluki forums and the final word will be he is not going to make another forum post.
