Firefox 3.6.27

I compiled firefox 3.6.24 (Namaroka) in puppy 4.3.1 and made a pet of it.

Tested and works in 4.3.1,Slacko 5.3.1,Lupu 528.004,Quirky 1.2, and KDpup485.

It doesn't work in recent versions of wary or racy.

EDIT:New version released dec11, tested in Slacko 531 and Lucid 528.004
Flash works in Slacko and Lucid but crashes in Puppy 431

EDIT:I compiled the 3.6.26 release in wary, it works in Slacko and Lucid but I haven't tested it in any other versions of puppy.

I'm using it in slacko 531 because flash works, the firefox 10.0 pet that I made for Saluki will run in slacko but flash doesn't work.

I have not tried your Namaroka Firefox yet, but I am guessing that it is not working in wary/racy due to missing libdbus and libdbus-glib. They can be found in the quirky/wary repository. http://distro.ibiblio.org/quirky/

My new method is to add the libdbus and libdbus-glib files into the Firefox pet/sfs and have it execute a script on the first run to see if those files are present in the /usr/lib folder. If libdbus and libdbus-glib files are not found, they get copied to the /usr/lib folder. I will be tweaking this method a little bit when I make my Firefox 10 pet and sfs, but the current method works. Feel free to take the scripts from my pets if you find them to be useful. So far, it appears most current pups already have libdbus and libdbus-glib files installed by default. Wary and Racy do not.

Just tested Namoroka in SolidPup 5.1.1 Final and it is running fine.

I just learned that Billtoo disabled dbus during the compiling process, so I am not sure of the reason why it is not working in latest Wary or Racy.

Mozilla says that they will force us to upgrade to FF12
so Firefox 3.6.24 to 27 will be a rare find.

is it easy to make a sfs out of this pet? I want an sfs that would be handy?

Well, since it states it's the last update to the v3 line, why not turn off automatic updating, and the notices about new versions - at least for Firefox version checks? (I'd turn it off for add-ons as well, but most seem to prefer to leave it on.)

That way, it won't check for new versions, and it won't automatically update you.

I'd be surprised if Mozilla didn't keep an archive of all the 3.x releases, like they have with all of the versions of Firefox, on their server.

I have a cheat solution that maybe works for me?
I will create another Directory that I name Lupu-528-005-FFupdate
and rename the one I have now to Lupu-528-005-FF-oldversion
that way I can boot into the new version most of the time and go back
to the old version if Flash starts to act up on me?

Easy to set up I just copy the whole directory content to the new folder
and then add the entry in the menu.lst and place that one as first boot.
And the older as second. Then Up upgrade to FF12 on the new one
and the old one I have set as to never upgrade.

I will now reboot and see if it works as I wanted with Flash.

Works good. I tested on local svtplay.se and BBC.co.uk and Youtube

So now I only have to find out what this 3.6.27 is related to the older 3.6.24

Only if you can get them to point to different copies of your Firefox profile, which is stored independently of the Firefox setups. Otherwise, they'll all be using the same profile, extensions, plugins... (and remember, some plugins (like, say, Flash) will be stored elsewhere in the system, anyway.)
