No Puppy I've Tried Detects My Microphone |
|
I have an old Compaq FS740 monitor with built in mic and no puppy I've tried seems be able to recognize the mic.
I've tried recording and nothing happens.
Is there a workaround for this? Drivers perhaps?

If you are using FATDOG/lightHouse (64bit Pups) here is a tool just posted today that may be useful. in the "Adventures of Microphones"

Which Puppy are you using? Pick one for test purposes.

Here is a test procedure (which you may have already tried.)
1. Open a terminal and type: alsamixer.
2. Press the Tab key to select the [Capture] devices.
3. Use the Right-arrow key to see all the Capture devices.
4. Use the Up-arrow key to increase the volume. Press M if they need unmuting.
5. Also look under Playback for Mic devices.
6. Press Esc to quit.
7. Type: arecord out.wav
8. Talk into the mic. Press Cntrl-C to quit.
9. Type: aplay out.wav

Yeah none of that worked.
Under mic in alsamixer, no devices were found.
Is there a way to get the embedded mic recognized?
