The problem with this laptop and its lookalikes is that they all *do not have* video out (VGA / HDMI) port, which means that you can't use it like a normal laptop. Otherwise, this is a great little device! More of this and UEFI stuff becomes irrelevant (who cares about Windows RT anyway).
Height of screen is only 600 pixels!!! Puppy linux can use that
height albeit with difficulty.
My Acer Netbook has this resolution and it works fine

I've personally been looking at all the tablets... cheaper and a usb keyboard are usually like ten bucks... but i'm worried about the touch screen... so i haven't jumped in. i don't think i have enough knowledge to get it working myself... so i'm waiting for someone to have success with one.
edit- i saw that a member has had success getting the screen to work and a keyboard but i didn't see a mention of touch screen (pm'd him but still waiting on a reply).

A forum member was able to get Puppy to work on a small

Looks interesting and cool that they
try to solve the overheating by using
small air holes for venting.
My main need is to have USB mouse and
USB keyboard and USB external HD
but that one maybe not is needed if
one can save on the SD card. and
later transfer what got saved to the HD.
But what I wonder about is this Hub
that is needed to connect to the standard USB
on MK802 that one need to be compatible with it.
I will wait for reports that it works out first.
Better safe than sorry.

BEWARE! They keep their profit margin up by
not including a power supply. The USB out port of
most computers just doesn't have enough juice
to supply the power needed because there is a limit of 500 mA!!!
700ma to 1000ma is needed at least. Fortunately they're cheap.

I order a MiniX Android 4.0 Multimedia Player off of Evil-bay. It shares most of the Mk802 features.

The one I ordered is a newer 1GB DDR3 version. I hope to run either Lucid Puppy 5.2.+ on it or maybe Akita Linux off a micro SD card since it's a single core CPU.
I'll keep you guys informed. This looks a serious option for off grid applications as it only draws 800 mAH @ 5v.

You're looking at PARM -- Puppy on ARM. TBH I'm not sure if that exists except for RasPi right now.

I see the screenshot with Puppy loaded on the Mk-802 but the article doesn't say which version ie PupPi Alpha 4. The MiniX/1gb DDR3 has got quite a bit more potential on spec than the Raspberry board. There's also the Hackberry dev board over at MiniAnd.com. Will PupPi A-4 work on the MiniX?

on it. I have a similar Android tablet. Unfortunately
I wasn't able to get it to recognize the system software

I followed BK's instructions for writing the PARM OS to a Sandisk, 32gb class 10, micro SD card. The DD wrote 2 partitions to the card, sdb1 is 16mb : eva.bin, mele.bin sys config etc, sdb2 is 4gb in size and had the PARM on it. The MiniX Plus Android recognizes sdb1 but nothing else. BTW for your info, the sdb2 partition was written in ext4. No choice on your part.

thanks for the links i'll read through them in a minute... ididn't get a chance to actually try the puppy build.... i made the boot disk but in doing so i first mistakenly made my 500 gb media hard drive a ~4gb puppy boot img. so sort of dealt with that instead this weekend...
luckily the tablet came pre-rooted and i did update the firmware to the latest 4.0.4 ics build they have... it's a shame i'm not allowed to toy with my tablet at work... days like today i would of had a ton of time.
