I realize this is three pages back! but I have this device, and would gladly shell out the dough for an HDMI->VGA converter (I know to get one with circuitry!) if I could run Puppy (PupPi?) on it. The concern for me is graphics -- the CX-01 has a "Mali400" graphics processor integrated into its SoC, and I don't believe that the open-source Lima driver works on it yet (will check shortly).

If anyone out there has run Puppy/PupPi on a CX-01 successfully, please let me know!

so we'll have to wait until Allwinner new generation of dual-core
chips flood the market.

Here's a tablet using an Allwinner dual core

beg ya pardon but linux can run happy on the a13. i am posting this from the olinuxino a13 board running debian wheezy, xfce, iceweasel.

its actually rather snappy, about the same speed to use as eeepc701 to the user.
webtv is watchable, browsing is fast.

BUT I MISS MY PUPPY!

i wish i knew how to get pup arm running on it.

Mele A20 A31 upgrades to A 1000/2000 with dual and quad core

#82 Post by nancy reagan »

Does Barry already know that his Mele's are upgraded with dual and quad cores etc ?

As he was succesful on Mele before but SPEED was the only problem I guess he would very quickly "on board".

Here's an interesting video on how to make
an OTG cable with a female end rather than
the normal male plug.

This is useful with Android tablets.

To buy a new cable is not expensive but few stores have this special
cable in stock.

It's possible to attach keyboards and USB sticks to nexus7
and probably other tablets.

Here's a review..

5.0 out of 5 stars OTG good ta go!
This little cable lives up to it's name. Works fine on a rooted Nexus 7 combined with stickmount app to add much needed USB storage to the tablet. You can't go wrong for $6.00 free shipping. You just have to wait two weeks for it to get here from Hong Kong.
This is same cable (I believe)

Hey you, don570!!!

#85 Post by stevielee »

I have followed with great interest the subject of the cheap, small arm devices. They have proliferated like mad, and I was wondering what the best sources of info are on them - like what are the best sites to read up on the latest items. I am tired of find a reference to a great, new product only to find the related article is 18 months old. Don570 seems to be in the know here, but anyone else please give your input also!

I am looking for a computer or card that is portable and can be paired with a small display like a "lapdock" for web browsing, torrents, and other downloads and can also be used to play video at home - like movies and such. So having a card that can run off a battery, run linux, and have a high resolution video output would be nice. Is it possible to run 4K video out of some of these things?

Thanks,

Steven

You might find it cheaper some place else. I am just posting the link to show costs.
Here is a Ubuntu article on the same drive

Charbax gives a roundup of the latest technology

http://usd99allwinner.wordpress.com/201 ... hong-kong/

What interests me currently is a laptop using the Allwinner A31s chip.
It would run Android 4.2.2

When I tried to track it down this was all I could find

The founding of Alwinner reminds of the founding of Intel
In fact, Allwinner [全志] was founded in 2007 from the exodus of Actions’ senior engineering team — who clashed with their company over shares of the earnings from Actions’ 2005 IPO.
