Puppy528-003 won`t recognize NTFS USB H.D.

My old PC just died ( BIOS check sum error...). 
The USB drive worked fine on it in Puppy528-003 My backup PC is an older Celeron running Puppy528-003 also, it sees USB flash drives but not the H.D. Any ideas as to what the trouble might be? I need it to work! |

Have you tried gparted? I had a similar problem with an external USB HD. I used gparted to "check" the partition and everything was fine - the icon showed up on the desktop and it mounted properly. Gparted does warn that doing this can lead to data loss, so you may want to try something else first. Hi antiloquax; Yeah, I thought of that, didn`t see it either. I thought maybe the USB had broke, but WinBlows PC sees it fine. Something about this old Celeron PC I`m sure, need a new PC bad! |

Reminds me of a problem I am having. Do any of your USB devices have the 'boot' flag raised ? In the computer's USB Polling process, I have found that a 'boot' flag may stop the polling. Also the specific port affects detection. For me, the port next to the Etho port will always boot. Note, I have 3 or 4 USB devices plugged in at all times. This thread is interesting, since USB devices are so handy for expansion portability.

You might start by checking if the hardware is detected, by typing the following in a command terminal window: List partitions:
List information on USB devices:

Could well be not enough power to the disk from the old USB port. _________________ I can't remember the last time I forgot something! |

Or the HD is not USB 1 backwards compatible |
