Gxine installation for Puppy 5
to install gxine download this:
http://www.datafilehost.com/download-e2cf69be.html [Link no longer good as of 6-8-2011]
Extract this file and install the following pets in order:
ffmpeg
xine-lib
gxine
open console and type gxine.
if libmozjs.so is required, you can download firefox
if not yet installed and
symlink /usr/lib/firefox/libmozjs.so to /usr/lib
Create shortcuts:
add symlink of /ur/bin/gxine to the desktop
or open defaultmediaplayer on the desktop as text
and replace it with exec gxine "$@"

Thanks for posting this. I just installed it on Lucid 5.1.1.
Could you add to this and talk a little about codecs for the player? When I had Gxine under 4.2.5, I had to install the extra_codecs_pack-1-1, then I pointed the demuxer to /usr/lib/win32.
I'm not having success with that procedure yet. Could you go into this a little? I have good video so far, but no sound.

Im am tring to improve gxine (only xvesa). It will be possible to get Gxine working with Xorg ?

Gxine with nuw puppies series VI useful for DVDs (choice of chapters is easy). Mplayer is less easy to use for playing DVDs
