I have been getting this together on a frugal install, and adding stuff to a multisession CD as it works.
Now have v0.002 multi-CD.
When it's all done I will do a proper CD/ISO.
Still another 5 days before I can go further.

@ greengeek - yes, tried Saluki. didn't like the package manager as format much, (couldn't see an obvious way to install ubuntu programs) and I thought I would enjoy the XFCE window manager, but I prefer the Lucid version...
Oddly enough, I can run Lucid, if I boot from a USB stick....
@ Kooliepup - Great to see Slic3r on there - with the addition of the Printrun suite, we should have a full (enough) setup - I did wonder if we started out by going about this the wrong way though...
Do you think it would be better to package these files as pet files - rather than just bloating up the basic puppy? (don't like to say that at this point! might be too late!)
I tried to install printrun, so I installed python first. typing python at a command gives me the correct messages, but
When I type 'python pronterface.py' I get a message about there being no link between the two.. How do I resolve this?
Also, when I download a python program, where do I save it to? I wish it would just save to the correct place, and detect my python install!!
I would have the same problem If I were making a .pet - how do you tell it where it is installing to, and how to make its links with the other libraries (etc) it needs?

I have installed Printrun too, and am trying to locate a compatable wxPython for it to run.
If that's all that you need for the CD then you should have it in a few days. It won't be huge.
If there are other things you want included let me know.
I won't have a machine for some time, and won't be able to test it, so I will probably only upload it the once, and it will be for others to test and modify if they wish.

That's fantastic Kooliepup - you are a star!
I've asked the question about extras on the reprap forum, so I'm hoping to get a little feedback...
What program does pronterface/Printrun associate with itself? Sfact, Skeinforge or Slic3r?
It would be great to have the choice...

Until I get Printrun running I don't know.
I'll add both if they are not too large, then I think the CD will come in at about 450MB.
I have installed Mesa drivers, and have tested ATI drivers which I will now remove for non-ATI users.
I have also removed AcrobatReader.
Version 1-alpha coming up shortly.

Hi koollepup,

did you at least get a working Python+wxPython running?
if yes would you mind give more details on how you did?
Are you aware of this:

Thanks for answer!
Have fun!

Hi Charlie,
After only 3 days I had forgotten about this little diversion. Life has got in the way.
I located the correct matching wxpython, but something is still missing.
I will try your suggestion. All suggestions appreciated.
I know nothing about Python, and always have this trouble when getting something new together that needs it.
Will report back.

I guess we need some input from a python programmer, with an interest in Reprap and puppy linux distros!

It rained this morning, so I got this done.
Sfact and Skeinforge are included.
Anything else to go in before I do an ISO?

I have Qelectrotech, and it is a great program, but maybe not useful to most RepRappers.
Let's see what Lucastar thinks.

I've just been browsing around for a Live CD suitable for reprapping, and fortunately I ran across this thread. I would **love** to see a reprapuppy -- I could actually use it right now, because I can't get the gcode sender to work on this borrowed Win7-64 laptop and I need to demo this thing at a school this week. :/
Wouldn't USB-to-serial drivers be required as well? I know that two of the commonly used ones are CP2102 and FTDI:

I went back and read this thread in more detail. I should point out that a new and updated version of Slic3r was released on the 29th -- it looks like maybe the day after you added it. There are a lot of new features in this version, so I'd recommend updating that if you haven't already.
The other app I would suggest is Inkscape with the Unicorn GCODE output extension, and possibly even the Eggbot extensions because those projects are so closely related. Inkscape is very helpful for rendering curves and text as DXF for import into OpenSCAD.
Lucastar, if you haven't used it, slic3r is very capable and -- as you say -- *very* user friendly. It and skeinforge are night and day.
kooliepup, you can consider self-sourcing your machine, too. I did it recently for US$300 total with a little work. Some details on that here: http://www.thefrankes.com/wp/?p=2617

Thanks 4 that.
I have added all those.
Investigating your suggestion of DIY.
Also some new machines just released locally.
