So... First off... HAI!!! Haven't seen me in a while, right?
Anyway, I was talking to this guy I go to school with (College is a wonderful thing) and we were talking about Puppy, as he's a die-hard linux user, and he brought up the concept of running Ubuntu on his smartphone (Currently running Android on it), and it got me thinking... Have we tried making a smartphone version of Puppy? What would it entail? Could we even begin to come up with a sort of AndroPup that merged the phone capabilities of Android with a little Puppy Power?
Thoughts, ideas, comments?
Puppy on smartphones?
Puppy on smartphones?

I have promised to not comment on things that I know nothing about
So only read this if you feel for it.
Smartphones have a radio circuit to take care of.
So when the "ROM" boot the smartphone it
take care of the radio too and even first??????????
So a puppy for a smartphone need the specifics for that phone.
Do you see the inplications? And almost every chip for
smartphones are ARM or RISC or similar less power hungry
CPU so your code need to be for the version of ARM CPU.
Look here http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=02754
that is for an ARM board that is used to make a TV into
a Smart TV that can surf the internet and play DVD
but Linux try to put Debian and Ubuntu and other Linux
on such boxes.
Raspberry Pi is a project that try to get schools into
teaching programming and they use ARM too and
Debian. So Puppy also try to get active on these.
But the radio circuit booting is very special.
You need to know how that is getting done.
Try the forums that take care of rooting the Androids.
Cyanogen or similar groups. ?

I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

@ cthisbear: I'm running the Samsung Conquer 4G from Sprint, Rooted with CWM Recovery on Gingerbread FC17 at the moment, so I know all about the goings on with rooting your phone. It's really not that difficult, if you're using Odin, but Odin was built only for Samsung (I think).
@ nooby: XDA is basically the only place I really visit, but I'll have to look into some of the others maybe.
Side note: Ubuntu for Devices: Requires dual core processor. Which, of course, I don't have. >.<
As for having the tech specs on something, I understand the implications therein, needing to know chipsets, drivers, etc. It's really no different than building a Puppy for a special application, like Pupeee. However, it is alot more difficult to get that information on a phone than it is to get it on a computer.
