3D-Game Descent2 (Shareware)

Kirk already made a Dotpup some weeks ago.
This one here has a small menu, where you can choose between 3 different versions:

SDL (slow, but runs on every computer)
GL(old) (fast, from 2004 (Slakware 10))
GL(new) newest version of d2x-xl, with additional effects, from http://www.descent2.de .

To play the GL-versions in good speed, use the 3D-card-wizard to enable accelleration for your graficscard:

With OpenGL, on my system the menus are almost unreadable, is that related to my graficscard, or do you have that, too?

If you have a full version of Descent2, you can play it too.
It will have menus, that don't look "garbled".
According to reports here, the menu-problem with the shareware-episodes happens with ATI-Radeon-drivers only.

Those comments are really worth to be read completely for different "full" reasons...

Now here a tip, how to use the full version.
Copy some files to /usr/local/descent2 , and rename them to lowercase.
So ICE.PIG becomes ice.pig
