RetroShare is a Open Source cross-platform private and secure decentralised commmunication platform. It lets you share securely with your friends, using a web-of-trust to authenticate peers and OpenSSL to encrypt all communication. RetroShare provides filesharing, chat, messages and channels.

This is so good.
Magic, even.

With this I almost feel relaxed about sharing and chatting with Windose users. Almost.

BTW, the executable filename needs to be all lowercase, to match with the .desktop file.

Thankyou for the .pet.

Heads-up for new users..
Go and feed the chickens while it generates a GPG key.
The key takes more than 10mins to generate on my 2.4GHz laptop.

Thank you, my pleasure!
I fixed the executable filename and updated the link. Thanks!

Retroshare under TOR?

I wonder... how good is RetroShare in protecting your IP? Can it be routed via TOR or is that not needed?

But anyway... many thanks for the puppy version of retroshare! Keep up the good work, and for ppl who do not know what RestroShare is about, here is

some additional info:

the coders of RetroShare have announced to add voip to their software very soon:

BTW the portable windows 5.3 version does its job under wine (and can be run out of a truecrypt container)

good tutorials about retroshare are available at youtube:

@Dromeno

It doesn't have to protect your IP.

Not if you only add people you know and trust.

Tor is insecure anyway.

Hi Sheepy !

Tried to install the .pet on Lucid 525, Fat Slako, and Mc Pup 5269.

PPM installed it (or so it says), link is present in Network menu, but it won't launch.

Verified dependencies; no missing lib.

Is this a 64 bit .pet ?

Nope, it is 32-bit. D:
Have you tried running "retroshare" in terminal and seeing what it tells you?

RetroShare 0.5.4 with VOIP!!!

My apologies, this post should be in the requests section. Is there anybody willing to make a working pet for the new 0.5.4 version + VOiP plugin? Preferably one which works on both Lupu and Wary

With closed source Skype now owned by MS it would be nice to have an open source secure way to use VOiP. The new RetroShare appears to offer it.

thanks in advance!

The available debs of the new retroshare (main program plus voip plugin) are here. Unfortunately the lucid version of the voip plugin is missing. I hope there is a way around that for puppy?

I believe libspeex is required to use the voip function. I have not tried it yet though.
But anyway, I tried porting 0.5.4 from scratch, and I was ultimately returned with a GLIBC version error. Nothing I can do from there, friend.

Finally got it running but on my netbook.
Don't know why it doesn't like my desktop, or is it my desk pot ?
