IBM's Sequoia is officially the world's fastest supercomputer.

It's said to run on Linux - probably a Puppy version - expect Barry K and Lobster know, but they may be sworn to secrecy.

Probably a customized version of 'nix. IBM started their commitment to Linux in about 2002. AIX goes back even further

According to Wikipedia , Sequoia runs Compute Node Linux (based on SUSE) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

I wonder what the unofficial computers are up to?
Holding that thought should keep the tin hats occupied for a while . . .

The computer I am running has two processors (the main CPU and the maths co processor is now integrated) . . . but wait . . . it is a dual processor. So a bit more oomph and a GPU . . .
Quite primitive compared to the Sequoia . . .

I consider this an excellent internet and cloud connection design (yep it is Microsoft and yes others will have to up their game . . .)

When we have a Sequoia or Quantum computer on a chip, what do we do? Real time reality enhancement, real time translation, reality simulation? I would suggest FTL (Faster than Light) travel, time and dimensional modeling etc all become feasible, realistic and possible projects. Personally I would like such computing linked to a 3D printer. What sort of societal structure will emerge to allow such projects?

Should be fun.

For those with a deep (at least 30 foot) interest in time travel, science and technology here is a quote which Lobster may set to self-destruct soon:
