Pmusic seems to fail

Mplayer plays mp3 just fine

Gnome-mplayer is not too bad with mp4 and avi video, a bit scratchy

Compiled volumeicon but it doesn't quite work, I may email the developer. It shows in the tray ok, but preferences don't work and the volume only decreases to about 50% instead of mute when the thing says 0%. Obmixer doesn't show up at startup but does kind of work

More as I go, see if I can help fix anything

Lobster, if you mount the first partition you see the file "config.txt"

Under where it says "hdmi_force_hotplug=1" add a line thus:

disable_overscan=1

Reboot.

Today I couldn't do anything with my Pi. We had a lot of rain last night, canalisation was overwhelmed and now I have a wet cellar

. Not a tragedy, but very annoying

You know that File-Sharing prog that we are accustomed to in Puppy? I think HairyWill wrote it, may be wrong, sorry if so, but anyway it's fixed for armv6. I compiled the binaries it depends on.

Barry, should be fine I have successfully tested and transfered files over wireless.

Install all pets below (you can omit the curlftpfs_DOC and pure-ftpd_DOC pet if you wish)

Lobster, this is better technology than "sneakernet"

this is the woof system on Raspberry Pi.

I am not very good with woof but Mick should be able to use it

Regarding sound - the most I ever got out of it was a tone (from a generator) - just to test the hardware.

got omxplayer working with sap6

A lot of missing libs, but it was easy to fix.

It's a simple console player (I guess only avi and mp4), but with GPU support and it works. At least with one (of 2) HD movies, which I've tested (Ghost Rider, don't ask, from where I got it

). The other one works also, but with a lousy resolution). Sound only via audio jack, but sound and video are flawlessly.

Will try to build a pet soon .

We already have alsa, and that site is where I got the instructions that I posted. Should work for analog.

I have been trying to get PNethood to work, no go so far. It probably would work with the debian smbclient but I saw the installed size was over 40MB

I succeeded in compiling samba-tng, 2 MB compressed but it doesn't see windows shares! Sees samba shares (linux based) fine. It's probably a bit old (2009). The alternative is to compile Samba and grab smbclient out of that but I think it would take a day to compile! Later.. maybe.

Might see if I can ftp to a windows box, that's good enough.

The pet is ready, but 4.785MB seems to be too big for here

Some weeks ago I was thinking about such a situation and found a file server for free with 5GB amount. Damn, can't remember the name

Hi. Great to see the progress being made ...
I haven't done much with my SAP yet.

My first priority is to get Python 3 and Pygame working.
I installed Tk and TCL and then compiled Python, but it couldn't find the tkinter module. I will try again when I have some more time.

i tried puppy on my Rpi and monitor and the resolution seems locked to 1824x984 and i cant change it too 1920x1080.

am i able to change this somewhere as xorgwizard isnt detecting the correct resolution

ah found out how. you need to plug sd card back into windows in my case, browse to the sd card and edit the config.txt. add the line disable_overscan=1

Well, getting close to alpha3!

I just now fixed the reshaping of the background image to suit wide-screen. At first boot, the background was coming up distorted.

I also fixed gnome-mplayer appearing in the Utility menu, now in Multimedia menu.

The biggest problem now is sound. I would like to get that sorted before upload alpha3 -- if it is sorted, might bump it to beta1.

Pmusic is broken? So, we need a little music player that works.

A mixer that works.

A audio tray applet that works.

I wonder if any of the other distros have fixed these sound problems?

Any of the multimedia based distros must have done (not tried any)

No doubt this has been tried

You need to set hdmi_drive=2 in the config.txt and then on boot modprobe snd_bcm2835

As I understand it Debian Squeeze only has an Alpha driver available
- so the driver is in the kernel turned off? Not sure.

Non working sound would be OK for an alpha 3 as you know

I'm just installing my "SLR" (SLacko for Rasberry Pi, built from Armedslack-13.37) to an SD card, used Barry's kernel, latest .img (july 7).

It will be a very different build (if it works). It has later Alsa than Debian, see if that makes a difference to sound.

If the image works but sound doesn't I might try a build from -current.

LATER: boo.... kernel panic on boot.... hmmm..
