Fatdog64-600 Final and 601 (July 2012)
If I get some time tomorrow I might take a look. Many torrent sites now only offer magnet links which don't work in older transmission versions. Also you need to tweak seamonkey/firefox settings, I wrote something about it somewherejamesbond wrote:Not that I know of, still waiting for volunteer ...Fishy wrote:Wondering if there is an up-dated transmission compatible with the over-sized dog?

Re Transmission
I tried to make a pup that would work but my skills only are to the level of screwing up the pup.
Here is the 64-bit version of PeasyPort for Fatdog. The release notes are here.

Anyways .. here it is:
Transmission
transmission-2.60-x86_64.pet 752k .. (I love this xz compression!)
Note, 2.60 is the last version that compiles against gtk+-2.0 (4th July, 2012, so still recent). I guess these developers are going to force us into gtk 3 one day eh?
REQUIRES:
libevent
libevent-2.0.19-stable-x86_64.pet 161k

Sundries
dev, doc and nls are in this folder

Appendix
You will likely need to set up Firefox or Seamonkey to recognise the magnet protocol as many links to torrents are now magnet links. Ordinary .torrent files are unaffected by this procedure.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fi ... ssociationIn about:config add the following as a new bool:
network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet
Set it's initial value to false.
When you try a magnet link Firefox/Seamonkey will pop up a box asking you what program you want to open the link with. Navigate with the file selector to /usr/bin/transmission-gtk then click open. Transmission will open where you can set your download folder and start downloading the torrent. Tested working.

Have fun!

Here is Password Gorilla. It's a password database, not too bad.

01micko, Thanks for stepping up and provided the transmission. I'll get it in to the repo.
Q5Sys, I haven't tested it yet, lotsa stuff to take care these days I'll do that as soon as I can.
What we can do about this:
- fix the sandbox script so that it automatically unmounts stuff when it is killed, or
- create a script to do the necessary cleanup in case the sandbox is accidentally killed.
cheers!

Technically speaking, you exit the sandbox as soon as you close the terminal window., so there is no harm there. The problem is that when the sandbox starts up, it performs a few mounts (that's all it does, actually), and if you just close the terminal these mounts remain (poor script, I know) --- and these mounts prevent future sandbox to start until the system is rebooted.smokey01 wrote:When playing in the sandbox and accidentally closing the terminal window without typing exit, is there another way to exit the sandbox without rebooting?

Fatdog package manager
Jamesbond is there a way to install PET packages locally through the FD package manager rather than downloading them.
The reason I ask is I want to be able to test PET packages which includes dependencies.
What I would like to see is the main local package is installed but then knows to go looking on a repo to find the missing packages as defined in the main PET package.
I have defined two additional packages in the main PET as "+package1,+package2". The problem is I dont know if I have done it properly. The other two packages are in the repo but my main package is not.
I'm trying to find a way of testing packages without wasting your time.
Maybe there needs to be an enhancement to the already great FDPM to be able to install local packages. If it already exist I haven't been able to work it out.

jamesbond, I have resurrected your folder encryption application for Fatdog64-600.
http://www.smokey01.com/software/Fatdog ... 64-1.0.pet
This is a neat little Rox app that will let you encrypt folders rather than just files.
Simply right click on a folder and you will be given the option to encrypt it, then close it.
You can remove the encryption if you like.
You can also change the password.
Enjoy

a little bit of knowledge and I'm dangerous
EncryptFolderFD64-1.1
EncryptFolder now works with the enter key when entering passwords. You no longer have to click on the OK button, but you can if you want to.
Finally got hold of a 64bit laptop to play with (borrowed)
Downloaded FD64-601-sm and burnt to a RW-dvd using FD64-521 that I had on a USB stick.
Read all of the post’s regarding 601 and am going to read the FAQ’s etc.
Hopefully when I reboot - all will be well.
Thanks to all involved in providing what I am sure will be another Great Puppy.
Very best regards - Ray

All good - posting from FD64-601 now - running from RW-dvd.
Luvly Puppy - so much included in such a very modest downlaod.
Love the new control panel - so nice to use - easy even for me.
Now to find that spare USB stick - and put 601 on that.
Should have an SDcard somewhere too - so one on each, for the shirt top pockets.
Thanks again JB, K and everyone else for such a Super-dupa Puppy.
Very best regards - as always - Ray
Edit: Booting from USB stick ok, better and faster than RW-dvd.
SDcard good too. Fantastic.

network
I have to run networkwizard and do auto-dhcp on eth0
everytime I boot up
I tried
rm -f /var/run/dhcpcd-eth0.pid
dhcpcd -h aalo -d eth0
from terminal
Seems like it connects but nothing happens when I try
to reach internet
Maybe I've missed some step that network wizard does?
Does it do some configuration of eth0? ifconfig?

Tried savefile=none, same bahaviour. No automatic connection on eth0.kirk wrote:Scooby,
You shouldn't have to do anything. Try booting with the savefile=none boot option. That will boot without using your save file. You should automatically connect. That's assuming that eth0 is plugged in before booting.
It works in lighthouse puppy but not in fatdog.
anyone know how to correctly call dhcpcd from commandline.
If I boot with no xwin (pfix=nox) then I see that the following line is executed
dhcpcd -I -d etho
and it reports success , still I cannot connect.
if I then run xwin and type the following in terminal.
rm -f /var/run/dhcpcd-eth0.pid
dhcpcd -I -d eth0
then I can surf the internet for about 30 seconds before
connection goes down.
But if I boot up normally and then run network wizard and hit autodhcp
then it works fine???
comments? is there some kind of timeout on connection?
also what is /var/db/dhcpcd-etho.lease
what does it do?
