[SOLVED]No desktop background and drive icons at startup

It happened to me all the time: my fancy background image and drive icons not shown at startup of Puppy. Only a restart of X-server would bring them back.
What I suspected was true: the background image size was too large and took too long to load from the USB flash, where it resides in the puppy-save sfs file. Note that reading (and writing) speeds of files on flash can be relatively slow.
My fancy background image was a png of 1.6Mb. When replaced with a jpg it was only 150K. With the jpg in stead of the png the desktop loads immediately with background and icons as it should be.
