Congratulations on a great job and thank you.

Took it for a quick spin late last night and my only issue then was the old network wizard....i don't like it, had to try several times to connect wirelessly to my router with Atheros 5211 chipset card in my IBM T40P, however it got there eventually. With the newer wizard, i find it connects immediately, so don't know what the difference is.

That's quite a crowd there Truong, so i imagine it was a very successful event. No doubt you were kept very busy...

Downloads of your new release are very lively already, so your users must've been eagerly awaiting it - there's still regular activity on 4.2.1 Pro too, which is good to see.

You may be right, Hacao - the server's been bombarded over the last 24 hours, so i guess there must have been quite a bottleneck there for a while....i just tried to d/l it from another machine and it seems ok now, so i hope it's settled down a bit. I'd hoped the server would be able to cope with the traffic :(

Let me know if you think the situation continues though, please.
(Now i have an inkling of how Eric must feel sometimes!)

Server's down..

#12 Post by russoodle »

Well, users certainly must be hungry for Hacao

I'm very sorry to report though that the server apparently has buckled under the onslaught

Hopefully it won't be too long before it's back up again.

OK, server's playing nice again now, i've checked and things appear to be back to normal, thank goodness. My apologies to any users who were inconvenienced and i hope it doesn't happen again in a hurry!

Thanks to Hacao for this. It's nice to see a professional approach to Puppy. It is needed
to supplement the 'just for fun' approach of the main developers.

Thanks to Russoodle for the mirror. I was one of those desperate for this version and found the
mirror working when I tried.

2 quick questions.

How do I get the desktop icons to display English text? Clicking the American flag on the
desktop doesn't do it. I guess this just changes the menu to English.

On the Live CD there is a readme file and a document file. Is there any chance these
may be translated to English?

Puppy needs some English speaking guys with the professional approach of Hacao (and MU)!

No shortage of opinions.
Let's go Ubuntu.
The Marching Morons still exist.

http://www.saigonnezumi.com/2009/07/22/ ... -on-linux/

"Unfortunately they decided to install their lackluster version of Linux.

Granted, I have never been a fan of Puppy Linux, previous versions
of Hacao Linux, though, were considered too bloated for my Vietnamese students.
They felt the desktop was too clustered with Vietnamized icons
(imagine an icon followed by 4-5 word translations).
Hacao Linux 2009 CE seems to have resolved that issue."

mirror server upgrade..

#17 Post by russoodle »

Wanted to let users know that i've just received an email from my server host, advising of 'a major network upgrade' being implemented over the next couple of days, so there may be some disruption to the service during this time.

However, they assure me that there will be improvements to speed and reliability afterwards, so that'll be good!

My apologies in advance for any difficulty accessing the Hacao files.

:)

EDIT: Well, everything seems fine today, Thursday Aug. 13th - just tested a d/l of latest Hacao release without any problems....there didn't seem to be a huge impact on my site anyway during the week, so all should be back to normal....and hopefully, better....now, so there you go :D
