Has anyone gotten the Cisco VPN Client to work on Puppy-Qemu? I used Rarsa's dotpup to-do list http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?p=12351#12351 and was able to install the client perfectly with-out errors. I can then connect to my VPN server and get a vallid connection. At which point I lose all internet connectivity, I am unable to ping any IP address private or public. It seems to me that there is some Qemu virtual machine problem that is preventing this from working.
Has anyone gotten this to work?
Thanks,
Joe
Cisco Vpn on Puppy-Qemu
When you connect to a VPN network using the Cisco VPN it cuts all access to your local network.
So when you ping, it will actually route it through the VPN network. If the VPN Network is connected to the internet, then you should be able to ping IP addresses. If you are trying to ping using the Domain name, then you have to make sure that your /etc/resolve.conf is pointing to a DNS server accessible to your VPN Network.
I don't think that this issue is related to Qemu, unless you mean that when you connect to the VPN you loose all network connectivity including the connection to your VPN.
I am confused on this last point because you say that you loose ALL internet connectivity. That would imply that you are loosing connection to your VPN Network too.
So:
Do you really loose ALL internet connectivity?
Are you connecting to your VPN through the Internet or are you testing with a VPN server on your same network?

I am aware that the Cisco VPN kills access to your local network, I have been using VPN to work from home for some time now (windows vpn). I always use the IP address of the remote server instead of it's domain name.
I can connect with my windows vpn from home just fine, but when I load up Puppy-Qemu on the same machine and attempt to connect with it's VPN, nothing works.
I really love the idea of being to have all my important work tools running off Puppy-Qemu on a USB drive.
Thanks,
- Joe
