gnumeric: symbol lookup error: [SOLVED] |
|
Hi,
[SOLVED] see «last edited» paragraph below
on a «home-remasterized» (*) (using woofy) dPup-Wheezy-3.5.2.5:
uopn selecting Menu/Edit/Preferences, gnumeric hangs up; command line reports:
| Quote: | | gnumeric: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libspreadsheet-1.10.17.so: undefined symbol: go_direction_get_name |
Does anybody also get this ?
Any workaround to fix this?
Thanks for any help !
Charlie
(*) removed: homebank + games; added: pets
last edited: one of the added pets had somewhat got uncompatibilities : abiword-2.8.6_musher.pet --> this one is not compatible here as it brings some gnome comonents that are not compatible with the already present gnumeric-1.10.17

epdfview-1.0.8 fails to pdf rendering ~> possibly SOLVED Subject description: + a running evince-2.30.3 for wheezy ! |
|
Hi,
[SOLVED = i.e. workaround --> GOTO «very...very last edited» at bottom this post]
On Wheezy-3.5.2.5, i happened to open a pdf document which is displayed as if some of its elements has been erased.
As i was expected to find some sketches in it, i got a try opening it another way:
opening the very same pdf document with
-evince (using dPup-exprimo-3.6.2.1) --> OK; and
-Xournal (on wheezy using the home-compiled -->see above post), i got the missing parts displayed
So it seems being a problem with epdfview-1.0.8 on wheezy (read link below).
-->see attachments for comparison

Here is a possible workaround ~~~> [SOLVED ??]
install epdfview_lupu-0.1.8.pet from here: (thanks to rcrsn51 ! )
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=70855&start=1950
notice: the pinstall.sh script inside the pet is useless as epdfview uses the already present libcrypto.so.1.0.0 and libssl.so.1.0.0.
if now wanting to run evince-2.30.3
install evince-2.30.3-i386.pet from here ( as also NLS and DOC files if needed - thanks ttuuxxx))
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=472483
evince cannot run using the pet; it needs some of all the deps present in the above epdfview_lupu-1.0.8.pet.
Now one can extract the libs under /usr/libs and put them into evince-2.30.3-i386.pet, and create a evince pet specific for wheezy.
hope this helps!

Hello, Charlie6.
I'm sorry to hear that. In my defense: when I created this Abiword package, pemasu's Wheezy Pup did not exist!
Did the removal of the conflicting files in my package solve the problem ?
I am interested in knowing the details, so I can forewarn users, or do some necessary changes.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Charlie6. Yep. I know the epdfview problem. I was thinking between using Firefox inbuild pdf viewer or compiling evince.
Atm Upup Precise with 3.8.2 kernel is the build I will use some time. I will continue Dpup Wheezy updates also in the near future.
But...you can test Firefox 19.X and change the content of this:
/root/Choices/MIME-types/application_pdf
to point to Firefox:
exec firefox "$1"

The handy gexec executable is missing.

I appreciate your abiword-2.8.6-musher0.pet -->a lot of thanks therefore !
My purpose is to have an abiword able to open ..doc and .docx files; not less, no more.
+ stripping for french locale.
Here is a tree showing the files i picked-up and kept from abiword-2.8.6-musher0.pet; removing the other files has solved the problem - i.e. folder goffice which might interfer with the already one present in wheezy.

.doc and .docx files are opened by abiword just by clicking on them, even if the abiwords-open-file-popup-menu does not show .docx extension (... i cetainly must have missed something ... but i did not have dug deeper into it to know why!)
Cheers, Charlie

gnumeric-1.12 on wheezy |
|
Hi Pemasu,
back to wheezys thread !
yep, on wheezy-3.5.2.5 i got some working compilation of:
gnumeric-1.12.1_wheezy-i386.pet: 20 M
goffice-0.10.1_wheezy-i386.pet: 5118 K
gtk+-3.4.2_wheezy-i386.pet: 19 M
libgsf-1.14.26_wheezy-i386.pet: 1160 K
Total: 45 M (4 files) (notice: these have large amount of locales !)
+ installed from debian repo (sid):
gnumeric-common_1.12.1-1_all.deb: 4686 K
libcairo-gobject2_1.12.2-3_i386.deb: 428 K
Total: 5114 K (2 files)
here gnumeric seems running, fonts menu are Emacs themes
works also using gnumeric_1.12.1-1_i386.deb from debian repo
cheers, charlie

The Imagination slideshow maker program works properly
Here's the app
http://www.datafilehost.com/download-650ca2b0.html
It requires this version of sox to be installed as well.

Wheezy |

Just a fast update...
For what it's worth... Even though this is still in beta-stage, of all puppy's I have tested to date, Wheezy proves to be the most 'stable' and 'reliable' of any I have tested!
